Ran Murphy ragged which was impressive considering he's barely played and can't be anywhere near peak form and fitness, says a lot that he can turn in performances like today when he's had very little game time, can only see him improving as long as he stays injury free.

All the rest we knew he had already.
He's already top class - at 19.

Arteta praised Martinelli for 'improving' every week.
What a total crock of shit.
Arteta is trying to cover his ass for sidelining the kid for almost an entire season and wasting a year of his career.

Madness this kid isn’t starting every week. He brings so much energy, is direct, drives to the byline regularly, forces defenses around. What the hell is Arteta thinking?

Arteta blaming the Tierney-Martinelli chemistry as reason for not playing him. The cheek of this guy.

Why hasn’t Martinelli been started?
The Arsenal boss explained that one of the reasons for the teenager's lack of minutes is the number of youngsters who are already featuring regular for Arsenal this season.

"We cannot put six or seven young kids out there,” he said. “We need some cohesion, we need the timing.

“Gabi has a lot of things to improve. He has got big qualities as well, and we have other players in those positions.

“Then we have to create links within the team and balance within the team. This will come.

It's a new lie. Last month this was the excuse.

Martinelli really showing Arteta up, he didn’t really need any help either as he was doing a perfectly good job by himself!

The excuses as well, utterly ridiculous, this guy should have played a lot more than he has.

He did worse than that - he actually tried to justify his decision to play Xhaka at FB, saying that Martinelli was doing better because of Xhaka's new position.
Really bad signs for the manager to say things like this. Making weird excuses for his decisions.

I do agree that we should not play 6 youngsters at the same time.
However, Martinelli should be the first youngster along with Saka to play for us.

Martinelli scares defenses and takes them out of their comfort zone. All our ponderous, sideways, backwards passing just keeps defenders in their comfort zones. He needs to be starting for his energy and forward movement.

Why does Xhaka-Martinelli work and not Tierney-Martinelli in Artetas mind? The only thing I can think of is because wooden legs Xhaka is not quick enough to o make overlapping runs and stretch the defenses. So he lets Martinelli do the job of a full back while he sits behind him covering. That’s hardly a positive. It’s like Wenger saying I won’t play Bobby because Ashley makes overlapping runs.

It sounds reasonable but it's an exaggeration from Arteta. Outside of the the odd Europa League group games, he has rarely played 4 or 5 kids together. He said this after picking Willian instead of Martinelli for the Slavia game but Saka and ESR were the only 2 kids starting.

This is why Arteta has to go.

He sounds like a guy making terrible decisions who spends half his time trying to meakly justify those decisions.

How can a guy who deep down know's he's been found out but still makes the same mistakes be the best manager for us?

Why not just say "He's been injured a lot and I want to ease him back slowly so there's no more set backs"
We could all half understand that than the cryptic BS he's coming out with now.

I really don't like this man anymore and when he gets stuffed by Utd in the Europa final, every defeat and every draw after is going to come down on him three times as hard.
