The question begs.

What sort of sh*t club comes out and announces a budget anyway?

The only reason I can understand them doing it is if they're trying to play our expectations down.

Leno + Torreira = £47m
Sokratis + Guendouzi = £25m

It can be done with smart buys. Not to mention we will be freeing up more cash once Ramsey, Ozil, Welbeck, Jenkinson, Lichtsteiner and Mustafi are sold/released. I have a feeling Mikhytaryan will stay on for one more season as we only have 3 other first team midfielders once the above players leave.

We will go for a mix of experience and youth again. People expecting another Ozil or Sanchez level transfer should block this site until Sept 1. We are in the same boat as Benitez at Newcastle. The war chest is £50m + player sales.

Ozil is going nowhere, other than that I agree with your post.

There's really no point in even thinking about transfers until after the EL final. That's a game changer and if we win we will be able to target a higher tier of player.

Although, I would hope the club is at least trying to lay the ground work right now

I reckon £40m is much closer to the truth than £100m given the financial position we are in right now. If we win the Europa League, we can expect the budget to increase to £80m. While I don't think £80m takes us to where we need to be, it's a lot better than where we can go with £40m.

Given this, it is absolutely vital for the future of this football club that we win the Europa League. Otherwise, we will have to work wonders with a lacklustre squad and a shoestring budget.

A doomed club who is happy where it's at. Cant Stan sell us and buy something else.

If Atleti pays 60+ mil for Laca we should def sell him. We already got Auba at striker. We can find a backup striker for 15 mil then rest of the money can be used for other areas. If we win EL and sell Laca for 60+ mil i think we can have 150 mil budget and thats without selling any other player.

15 mil for backup stiker, that leaves 135 mil for Wing, CB, LB and CM. Thats well enough.

60m is a good price to get for laca. However, for once in years we have an area(attack) that is sorted. Lets keep it shall we

Auba can't play as main striker though

£60m is a horrible price for Laca.

We bought him for £50m / £55m he's improved more than £5m in worth since being here.

I wouldn't look at anything less than £80m, are you telling me he's not worth more than Morata?

More to the point because I don't trust AFC to reinvest, I wouldn't sell him at all, Laca and Auba are the only thing elite about our club, we'd also only be left with one senior ST in the team.

But imo we overpayed for the player he was when we bought him. Only worldclass, or players that are near it, should go for 70m+. Lacazette is neither

He's worth more because there is a lack of quality number nines out there.

Yeah ........... in 2015.

Lukkaku and Morata went for £80m each, true World class stars are going for over £100m these days.

Its still is. Market didnt inflate that much. Last summer only 3 signings were made over 70m(kepa, ronaldo and mbappe). Ronaldo 'only' costed 88m, and even with his age he is one of the best players that ever walked this planet.

Using chelseas transfersum isnt a valid argument tbh. None is ever going to pay 70m+ for lacazette, a player that hasnt even hit the 20 goal mark in all competitions in his last 2 seasons.
