I can see this being our starting XI next season:

Auba-Laca-Claude
Kola-Kessie-Guen-Beller
???-Sokra-???
Leno

With claude, two CBs and kessie coming in for torreira. Then the likes of Smith-Rowe and Nelson coming in as squad players.

How good the two CBs are would decide how happy i'd be. Saliba and Manolas would have been the dream.

The fact we have the transfer budget of a mid-table side without Champions League football is crushing. I'm not looking forward to the future at all.

Meh, im not fussed. By far the biggest contributing factor to how well we may or may not do in coming years is the performance of the manager and the coaches he instructs!

The conplete lack of transfer activity coupled with rumours of a £45m transfer budget have made the fans very anxious - and justifiably so. All the evidence seems to point to the fact that Arsenal are indeed going through a financial crisis, which is a terrible sign.

Hard to understand how we can go thru a financial crisis with some of the highest ticket prices in the league, one of the biggest stadiums, huge fanbase and when your owner owns Wal-Mart. Someone doesn't know how to run a football club very well.

it's an investment to stay up in the PL, which pays shitloads more than the Championship. they will spend a fraction of this next year if they survive the drop.

whereas for us, the economics aren't the same. not much difference In how much the FA pays Man City and us.

Winning the EL would get us €20m, which can't even buy an SPL left back. Winning the CL gets you £100m or so, but requires £400m in players and player salaries.

Europa League winners get anywhere between £40-60m.

Our annual UCL Ro16 exits yielded around £40m.

Winning the EL = £40-60m.

Add this to the UCL revenue we'd generate once we're in it.

We have around £100m extra easily.

How come it seems like we are the only club that care about the FFP rules etc?
Whenever it comes to strengthening our squad we keep hearing about how the FFP rules are affecting or hndering us. While on the other side it never affects the other clubs that spend way more than us season after season.

The likes of City, United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Madrid, Psg etc spend more than £150 million each season but the FFP regulations don’t seem to affect them. While the FFP rules normally affect The Arsenal that spends an average of £50-70 million on transfers per season.

I don’t get it. Makes no sense.

Or it’s just the excuse Arsenal use / hide behind in order to not spend. The FFP regulations had become Wenger’s go to catchphrase for not spending or strengthening our squad.
Lol

There is no financial crisis ffs. It's the owner not releasing funds.

We have lost a lot of dosh in player sales in the past 5 years, I would guess. Its not like we have not been spending money in the last 4-5 years.

There has never been a financial crisis, for years and long before Kroenke took ownership the club have steadily been increasing their Cash reserves. According to the latest annual statement the club has £231.3m sitting in the bank.

I have never seen a justifiable reason why. It cant be to cover seasonal ebbs and flows, £231m covers far more than that.

Allowing pretty much all our most valuable players to run down their contracts has cost us dearly in recent years.

Over the last 5 years, selling low and buying high has taken us to being the 6th highest net spenders in world football.

For reference, Real Madrid, Atlétcio Madrid, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich don't even make the top 10 while Juventus (8th) and Inter (9th) also have a lower net spend than Arsenal.
