I'd rather compare last season, that is more appropriate.

Same or near enough players, same level of competition and not a completely different era.

I did the comparison of their first years to look at Wenger's first few games compared to Emery's. Wenger went on to do quite well as we all know. Its not like Emery is miles behind Wenger - with worse players !! He is matching Wenger.

So far too early for the doom merchants to be predicting doom already.

I took the fixtures from Wiki's Arsenal 1996/97 season, how right it is ... who knows.

Emery will have four more PL games before he comes across L'pool. So, if he can continue the current run, we would be in good shape to meet Liv'pool. Looks like Wenger, u. his early days, found it tough against them, so if AFC can get something from that game, he would be doing better than the ex-boss.

Doom and gloom much?

So if we're worse ............

Winning away from home

Lacazette is playing better

Defense certainly has not regressed, our defense was horrendous last year, getting beat by one ball over the top

Max = Top 4 yet we couldn't even manage top 5 last season

I fail to see how we've regressed, considering we're in an adjustment period, the players look fitter and stronger, the only thing lacking is a bit of rhythm and finesses in midfield but even that got better last game in spells.

It's kind of a weird conundrum though. We're winning (now), but overall I think our play has been really sloppy and not so great to watch. So in a sense we are playing a bit worse imo, but on the other hand we're getting results. But I don't put much into it as its still too early to really judge right now. Emery probably won't have the team he really wants until next season.

Or maybe it's technically we haven't been as sharp so far, but overall play has been a tad bit better. IDK, so hard to judge right now.

Our attack looks out of ideas with no cohesion, only individual brilliance has really got us goals

Wenger got more out of the attack last season, but hopefully it works out
