hes too much. Cant be spending that much money on players. The new regime need to have a small budget imposed on them.
Pepe is the exact opposite of that.
This is the type of signing it could be worth spending serious money on. 23 years olds goals and assists. Quality. I wouldn't mind seeing the money spent on someone with true potential and young enough to get better.
Or he could be a gervinho regen from the French league.
That weve just spent 80m on.
Thought you didnt want to spend stupid money? Why does some guy from ligue 1 change that all of a sudden?
Same could be said for Zaha who has never scored over 10 goals in his career. We have been over this and starting to think it's a waste of time talking to someone that has difficulty retaining information. For the last time, I'm happy for the club to spend major money on players with an elite level status or the potential to become that.
Pepe is being linked with moves to Utd, Liverpool, Inter and us. Zaha...it's just us and Everton. I wouldn't spend £80m on this guy but if they were to push it to £50m-£60m I'd be comfortable with it. But we may have competitions for his signature.
Any big signing has risk of being a flop. It's always a risk but I'd rather minimise the risk. A player that's 27 in November, has never scored more than 10 goals is more of risk because we're hanging on this player to perform at a level never seen before. With Pepe, we at least know he's capable of scoring such goals it's just whether it can be transferred to a different. 20+ goals and 10+ assists is close to Sanchez levels.
