Part of why we struggle defensively is our midfield. We have an awful midfield.
We did better last season than we have this season without a decent winger.As for signing a winger over a CB, in our position that was ridiculous, we were crying out for a top class CB, yes the midfield needs addressing but a winger doesn't really do that.

No doubt we need a winger - but we need a top clas sone and sadly, Pepe is not that.
He's one of those players you hope maybe that he'll do something to win a game, but you know it's like ahail mary pass in American football. Not likely to pay dividends.
Note also that on several occassions today he was whining at the young players. We need or want the kind of player Pepe is. It would be much better to cut our losses on him and admit the mistake.
