Define contribution? He's not in behind for combined goals and assists contribution. Pepe was ahead of everyone in the team for goals and assists combined last season.

He just needs to stay focused and stop the showpony stuff. Last game was a good example. Opposition was low but he wasn't trying to beat every player with every touch twice over and then score. He used his team mates more and that's what he has to learn.

Not in the PL.
In the entire season last year he got 1 assist and 10 goals.
He ended the season well, scoring 5 in his last 5 games, but for most of the season he was not very good.
That said, he did end well so he was in the team at the start of this season.
For the entire first two months of this season he started and was absolutely dreadful and was rightly dropped.
So yeah - he needs to contribute a hell of a lot more to get anywhere close to the first team in the PL.

PnG by contribute I mean all of the "other" stuff. The other forwards are involved in a lot of running without the ball, making themselves available, tracking back, being involved in team goals.

Now, I am not one to knock a forward for not tracking back, I defended Ozil for the longest time and he was a midfielder. But Ozil was world class, Pepe isn't, so if he wants to play ahead of Saka and Martinelli he either needs to double his goal contributions at least or start tracking back a lot.

Now, would he be as effective offensively if he tracks back? I doubt it.

Agree on the 'other stuff' but I don't think he's bad on defence. He's improved in that area and tends to put more of a shift in. As said before, he should use his teammates more and just keep the ball moving and play flowing more often. No need to always attempt to shimmy and beat a man for every touch.

Pepe is always one of those players that has a decent game and you think will come good, but he never does

Scored a cracking goal for Ivory Coast.

Personally like Pepe, think he’s always involved in creating chances and scores goals.

He’s a very useful option to have.

Yes I agree, just doesn’t get enough game time and always seems to get dropped after performing well or scoring, that doesn’t build confidence.

He played almost every minute for the first 5 or 6 games this season and was so shit he was dropped.
He wasn't dropped for performing well.

The only reason he lost his place because he was utterly useless when he played for us.
What he does for Ivory Coast against Algeria isn't going to get him in Arsenal's team ahead of Martinelli, ESR or Saka. Why? Because they are all much better than him.

Most of the team were rubbish in that period. That’s not enough game time over half a season.

Those three are very good no doubt but Pepe is a very good option to have, Saka wasn’t very good for a big chunk of this season, it’s only in the last couple of months he’s improved a lot, young players will have dips in form and so need managing some they don’t burn out, they should play, but they should also get rest.

Let’s not kid ourselves about Pepe though, he wasn’t really getting a proper chance before the young players were regular 1st teamers either.

Pepe was dreadful for a long run of games - that is why he got dropped.
Yes, others were not great over the first 2 months either, but you don't drop a whole team.
It was Pepe that was deemed to be the player that needed to be benched after the Palace game because Arteta went 2 up top and it worked very well against Leicester in the PL. Then Martinelli came to the fore.

The question would be ... who is getting dropped to start Pepe now?

Saka?
Martinelli?
ESR relegated further and getting less game time?

Which is it?
The simple truth is that he is on the bench because there are other players starting who are better than him.

Deadly left foot. Hopefully, he comes back full of confidence.
