No doubt it was a horrible miss, but he was unlucky a few minutes later ....and did actually create a few things. So he’s getting a bit better....slowly!

Not like we’ve got a queue of alternatives lined up behind him!

Pretty much. He shouldn't have been dropped in the first place but we all knew Willan would start today. 20 minute cameo and Pepe could have saved the day. Robbed of a penalty and missed a sitter but it happens. Saka's missed chance was worse and would have put us 2 up. But this has been the story of our season.

No doubt but he made an impact yesterday even if he didn't get the goal to round it off. I've slagged this guy as much as anyone, for his fee he is absolute shit, but end of the day he's a relative starter in this squad, if not first backup.

If they are all fit I'd always play:

Auba - Laca - Saka

But behind that my first man would be Pepe or Martinelli, given Marti's recent injuries and seeming exile from the team then I don't see why Pepe wasn't given a chance to continue his mini revival from the off yesterday. Arteta's love of Willian is killing multiple players (marti, pepe, laca...even nelson) and is his biggest failing.

Willian made a few good runs yesterday. Maybe his Chelsea homesickness is ebbing away.

It's that goldfish fan mentality again.
It's been a long time since a player brought in to help us move forward has been as bad as Willian has. He's been a joke signing to date.
I really don't know what he could do at this stage to make up for the utter tripe he has produced since he signed.
To be honest he shouldn't even be allowed to make up for it - at this stage, he should be in the reserve team and on the transfer list come the summer.

Pepe is the better option as a sub - even though he's average and was a complete waste of money.

The cross across goal he missed though was bad but still he was only on for a quarter of the game, he would of scored if on for longer.

Missed a tap in an eight year old could’ve converted.
That's unfair to 6 and 7 year olds.

TBH, the game could have gone on till Sunday night and Pepe still wouldn't have scored. He's gervinho and Eboue rolled into one.

Leave off Eboue - he's a legend.

140k pw in wages means we couldn't give him away if we wanted.

I am really curious to see what happens next season. He is not a starter anymore, and at some point Martinelli will be re-introduced into the team, pushing him further back. We can't have a player on that much money sitting on the bench.

Thought he was pretty average today. Got himself into some really good positions but seemed afraid to really take his man on. Their LB was on a yellow most of the game and I don't think Pepe tried to go past him once.

Again we need to be smarter in certain game situations. Arteta needs to be drilling that.

One of the best players today, played with total confidence when making runs against their back line. Created the chance that led to the penalty.
