Rate the transfer window

Postby Jedi » Thu Aug 09, 2018 6:25 pm

All in all i'm personally rather happy with this transfer window and would give it an 8/10 which could go down to 6/10 based on whether Sokratis and/or Leno flop. Ideally could've had another big singing but considering the budget i have to be happy.

I gave a 7.

Good window, covered some holes in midfield, off loaded further deadwood.

But we missed a star signing and even more importantly a CB worthy of being a nailed on starter, in fact I wouldn't of minded the star signing to have been a CB.

The only joy I can take really is that if Misinslat can achieve a 7/10 with £50m I'm excited to see what he could do with our usual £100m or so budget, Misinslat does have to be given credit tbh.

Deep defense remains a worry. Lack of quality signing might bite us. Attack wise lot will depend on the form and motivation of Ozil and Mikhi. Any injuries to them, and we might again be in for a rough ride. Another worrying factor is , all promoted teams look very well prepared for the season. Very little chance of slip ups.

I gave it a 8 because we actually went out and bought impact players, not french/african teenagers in positions we are already overstocked like Wenger used to do.

10/10 for Everton and Liverpool, Fulham & West Ham did well also, Wolves should be fun to watch next season also.

so we signed

an average keeper
a shit past it defender
a good cover for RB
an excellent DM who'll become world class
and a really exciting young midfield talent

6/10

agree on all of that, i think Guendozi will be a world class player also.

the jury is out on Sokratis, hes strong and quick, could go either way.

Leno is a blunder machine.

Lord people are people mad. 5/10 most. Fact is not a single one or our signing is a guaranteed starter for any of the big clubs.

Our weakest point (defence) hasn’t really been strengthened. The midfield is still hollow and we’re still without an actual winger.

We have cash reserves of £200+ which we were told were there in case we fell out the CL. Yet here we are we’ve signed hopefuls and has beens. Meanwhile the teams that finished above us have all improved significantly and those behind us have also bolstered their squads.

5/10.

Nobody knows if we have strengthened until they play a competitive game, it could be shrewd buys.

But yeh its down to having no money really, i mean look how much Everton and Liverpool spent compared to us.

I still don't quite get why we bothered to sell Lucas Perez, we didnt use the funds, may aswell have kept him as experienced cover.

This for me, sums up my thoughts, lets hope we are both in for a good (positive) shock. ;)

7/10. I was absolutely astounded at our quick business early on in the window, but our clumsiness in the last few days by loaning out Chambers and then failing to strengthen the defence has put a sour tint on the whole thing. Yet again we have shown our lack of ability to improve depth when its crunch time. We're going into the season with only one fit left back and our centre back depth is quite frankly appalling.

You can't really gripe, if Wenger was in charge we'd get Fabianski back, a french 18 year old centre back, a 37 year old french dm and probably sold Ozil, Auba & Ramsey to Man Utd and then put a cheeky bid to get his love child Giroud back.

if wenger was still in charge we'd have bought the same players as he'd have little to no say in who we recruit, just like emery
