Meanwhile at Arsenal, Xhaka gets sent off again at the weekend.

Just imagine eh, we could..no, should have a core to our existing midfield as things stand consisting of;

Partey
Odegaard
Lokonga
Guendouzi
Smith-Rowe

In the ideal being a swelling of the numbers to eight in seeking to win both domestic cups and a competitive showing in the challenge for the league with one eye on next season, I would champion the attainable recruitment of;

Bissouma
Guimaraes
Aouar

Of those players still currently registered to AFC but jettisoned from MY midfield squad roster, I would only consider the arsenal career resurrection of Lucas Torreira, who in such a scenario would essentially do away with the dire need for Bissouma to be that defensive enforcer offering a massive up turn to our prospects in combination with the five above.

I am also of the belief that Guendouzi would thrive in my proposed midfield environment and be the embodiment of perpetual motion, whilst Aouar has the capacity to evoke memories of Bobby Pires, and not too dissimilarly of how Guimaraes puts me in mind of Santi Cazorla's often exquisite displays from the base of midfield as a DLP.

The word "mistreated" was used on this forum just yesterday. But even if it were only not getting a wad of cash, if you have a cancer -- even a small one -- you get it removed. The cash is a secondary consideration. You can't force other clubs to pay big sums for a player, especially when he has a history of displaying a bad attitude. Why would they? Sometimes you just have to let it go. Addition by subtraction.

Absolutely.

Well shot of him.

SAF would have him straight. Too many weak-arse managers around that can't handle big personalities.

I don't think we can say anymore that Arteta is not shaping up the players and engendering a sense of team and work ethic.
Some players just don't want to go along with it and have been shown the door. SAF got rid of many players that he thought did not have the right attitude. He even got rid of players that had a good attitude if he thought their profile was too high and they were elevated above the team in any way.
He didn't try to 'set them straight' at all.

Ferguson got shot of anyone who caused trouble.

They felt the toe of his boot right up their arse on the way out.

If the player is talented, you tolerate his shortcomings. If he’s not, you get rid. The question is whether Guendozi is worth the headache.

In terms of the squad, I'd rather have a hole than an arsehole.

Skysports posted this when we signed Guendouzi.
Guendouzi is a very talented young player with ego problem. He was frozen out of the squad for three months after a dispute with head coach Mickael Landreau during a game against Valenciennes in November and he was withdrawn at half-time.

Yet, we chose to sign him. So we should manage him, not ostracize him.
Well, if we don't want to deal with his ego problem then don't sign him. Don't say that the scout (or whoever) didn't see this coming. It's like signing an injury prone player then complain that he is injured all the time after joining us.

About his talent. He is in the team of the week before the news about his ego leaked out.

Look, I don't want an ego maniac in our team as well, but I still think that Arteta gave up on him too quickly. Same with Saliba. If he really is not good enough to play for us then fair enough, but he hasn't got a chance. The decision has been made so unbelievably quick.

So you are saying if you make a mistake with a signing we should keep that player forever?

Guendozi is levels above Lokonga. Not even close.
