The only reason we had to get Ramsdale is because the clown chose Leno over Martinez. Had we kept Martinez we’d have never needed Ramsdale.

White is a complete waste of money. If Saliba is given a fair chance next season he will bench white but we know that’s not going to happen.

Lokonga is mediocre. When you compare him to the likes of Bellingham and Camavinga who are in his age group, he’s rubbish.

Odegard and Tomiyasu are good signings and perhaps Tavares is as well. I always liked Odegard but the other two are a revelation.

Can't disagree with any of that

We're not in Europe and Saliba wasn't quite ready to challenge for a spot in the starting eleven. Having said that, I do maintain it was a mistake from Arteta and company to not send him out on loan at the start of last season.

You could make that point but here’s what’s different. He was on loan at Etienne and we recalled him before their cup final. They were also keen to extend his loan. So if minutes was the reason we could have just done it at Etienne. We spiked 50 mil on White which in hindsight was totally unnecessary since he is no better than Saliba. I know some here think he’s the second coming of Beckenbauer but he hasn’t done anything to warrant that valuation. Decent player, likeable bloke but not a 50 mil signing. We could have used this season to create a strong partnership between Saliba and Gabriel and used the 50 mil on a top CM.

I think the unit partnership of White and Gabriel and the understanding White and Tomiyasu have built up is outstanding.
I don't think anyone has claimed that White is Bekenbauer. That is just you being overly emotional because on of your 'favourites' Saliba is not good enough yet to be a PL player.

Saliba right now is way way behind both White and Gabriel - but it's not so much of an issue for Saliba as he is years younger.

Seems like a very good decision to loan the kid out.
I remember the same people saying how brilliant Balogun was last year and deserved to be in the first team because he scored a couple of goals against weaker teams in the EL. How much better he was than Nketiah, etc.
Well, we can see pretty clearly now how wrong they were. He wasn't ready then and he's not ready now.

Saliba is a kid who is getting some game time against weaker opposition to develop his skills.
It's good for him, good for Arsenal.

Good decision making on his future all round.

The stick you produced ? Well you are really just beating yourself with it.

I am looking forward to seeing whether he will be ready next year.

Damn right he isn't Beckenbauer. My issue with him remains we paid £50m and are getting £25m defending. He is an ok CB, I expect far more for that kind of dosh

I think he's well worth the fee...mainly because I know this is a team game and if it takes £50m to get the exact player needed to be part of the defence we need, so be it. For what he does in the back 5, the specific role he has, there are few better.
As it turns out he's been very solid in the air, not the best, but solid. He's been excellent at intercepting passes and breaking up attacks and top class with the ball at his feet. He's still got more to learn in terms of positioning and he needs to eradicate his tendency to back off instead of engage attackers as well improve some of his decision making. But that will come. He's still young. Frankly, he looks a fabulous addition who will grow with this young team for the next 5 or 6 years.

Part of absolutely stellar transfer window when taken as a whole was a massive bargain. £150m for 6 excellent players.

Lol, worth £50m !!

Stay off the drugs Jay!

If what you're saying Jay is that the £50M wasn't just for the player himself and what we were on the face of it buying, but for the functionality needing to be achieved across the defence that they believed he'd help secure and as such the true value of the money paid included more than Ben White, then I'm inclined to agree with you.

That is indeed what I am saying.
I also look at the window in the round. Some players identified will cost more than they are worth at a given time, especially inter premier league transfers, other will be bargains.
The way I look at it is that we bought 6 players capable to being first team PL footballers - and very good ones - for £150m. That is excellent value. All the players seem to have addressed specific needs and together have gelled very well as a group and integrated into the existing squad.

There are those that will continue to seek reasons to blame Arteta for anything they can leverage and even take positions that are far from reality just to prop up a negative agenda that was crafted months ago - following the bad run in late 2020 and deepened when we lost the EL semi final.

We even have some of the now not able to accept they were wrong about the transfer window and fins it almost impossible to admit that actually Arteta and Edu made some excellent moves that were simply beyond their understanding.

Before he bought Ramsdale, he bought Runnarson.
Before he bought Tomiasu, he bought Cedric.
Before he gave Martinelli a chance, he bought Willian.

But his fans conveniently ignore that.

What that he rectified his mistakes? Unlike Wenger who just kept making the same mistakes and standing by them regardless?

Relax bro. It’s Norwich tonight. Another chance to stat pad. Life is good until we hit the top half teams.

You mean like Man Utd beating them with a late penalty were stat padding?

Away game in the PL - means it's a tough game.
Since 2010 in the PL vs Norwich away - P5 W2 D2 L1.

Full league away record against Norwich:
P26 W7 D12 L7

Yup, we've won just 27% of the games we've played at Norwich in the league

Surely a top four team (which you claim we are) should have no problem putting away a team ranked dead last home or away? Losing confidence are we?

Top 4 teams - and any other - more often than not have a tough game whenever they are away from home.
This is the PL.
Nothing to do with confidence, just a good understanding of the PL, plus an understanding that Doomers like to set up every game as easy.
