Head coach Unai Emery said: “We are delighted Matteo is joining us. He is a talented young player and a lot of clubs were interested in him. He has big potential and gained good first-team experience last season with Lorient. He wants to learn and improve and will be an important part of our first-team squad.

Does this mean we might see him getting serious minutes in the PL next season, going in and out of the team kind of like Iwobi or Ox under Wenger? Or does he simply mean he will be training with the first team squad and perhaps play in Carabao Cup kind of like Reiss Nelson?

He sure is a talented youngster. We were not the only club wanted to sign him. Now, he is with us.

He seems ready for first team football. Expect him to feature a lot i the Europa League.

Good signing. seems like a proper Central Midfielder.

Depends. Initially, do I see him starting? No, I don't.

He'll feature in the League Cup and the EL's group games.

If he does put on a show, you never know by the end of the season.

Torreira - Guendouzi
----------- Ozil

something like this and what angelito said...

the reels i saw... looked fluid, nice first step...

as i said somewhere else i like the stamp unai is putting on the squad....

too many years of jack, walcott, feo, ox.... who all showed "signs" but never became consistent plus players

I'm watching the PSG game.

What sort of player is he supposed to be, a CM or a CDM?

He's very good I'm just trying to work out what sort of player he is.

Seems like he is almost there already offensively. Defensively he's probably lacking, but still hard to tell in pre-season. Either way, kid looks really promising. Trying not to get too excited.

Have to admit he's outshone Elneny but then that was Elneny's first game back.

Guendouzi looks a player though, can tackle, covers the back 4, gets forward as well, can pass long and short, he was everywhere in the PSG game.
Can be difficult for deeper mids to shine in games but he was probably player of the match so what we paid for him was a steal at £7m fantastic business, Sven's played a blinder here.

This kid is 1st team ready at least for the bench and easier games.

My only knock on him so far, and maybe it's too early, is that he seems to go down very easy. Stay on your feet son. He's going to need to learn how to take a hit in this league.

Very excited about him.

He is what I would call a well-rounded midifelder. You can slot him in any midfield spot and he will be good to very good.

Excellent composure and attitude for a youngster.
