No way Xhaka/Torreira is our best midfield. Guendouzi/Torreira is potentially our best midfield, ee just need to see them play together for more than a cameo.

|He has gone from zero to hero in 24 hours because he scored a free kick, its like people have forgotten the preceding 20 games where the has been useless.

Don't get me wrong, I want him to do well, he has some magnificent tools, but his stay at Arsenal; has so far been poor to underwhelming.

It's a real pity that Koscielny's not yet available and neither Papa or Nacho can't be risked, as I think this game against Brentford would have been an ideal opportunity to have played our young Frenchman at centre back in order to aid his education and development.

There has been the odd comment that he had lost his bearings on occasion and even needed direction from Xhaka regards his positioning, whilst overenthusiasm has seen him chasing down lost causes like a puppy only to leave us a little bit exposed.

A game like this at centre back alongside Papa/Kos, with Lichtsteiner and Nacho to also offer guidance and pearls of wisdom, would probably go a long way in helping eradicate those flaws.

And gaining a greater appreciation of defensive responsibility and working as part of a unit as opposed to being individualistic, can again only help with his development.

I don't think many would have been overly concerned at the thought of Vieira or Gilberto Silva having the odd game playing centre back & think that they did once or twice, whilst Petit definitely spent some time in that role, so not exactly a wacky idea without substance.

Hopefully Guendozi and the defense coaches learn a thing about clueless tackles in front of the 18 yard box like we did against Brentford.

He is young enough to be coached to "stand up" in certain situations, no point diving in and no point giving away a free kick.

Just too raw at the moment, inexperience starting to show a little after a few games but this kid got plenty of potential.

He's 19 and from Ligue 2, of course he's raw. The funniest bit is that he's still been our best midfielder, soon to be overtaken by Torreira mind you.

He's good enough to get enough games here and learn on the job, we're in a place shit enough to let him as well. Perfect timing for both parties, hopefully by 21/22 he's a quality player and we're heading back to the top of the PL.

With Ramsey all but gone it's his chance to nail down a place in the side now.

Not buying the hype yet, just looks like he has a good engine and can make tackles but as a footballer I see nothing special, early days so hopefully he will prove me wrong

............ which is exactly what he's supposed to have as a CM with defensive duties.

We don't need him to be Zidane from deep CM.

The guys 19 what do you mean not buying the hype, he's playing for our 1st team under Emery at that age is all the hype you need.

He'll become a solid CM if he's not one already.

I see what Marsbar is saying, I have tempered my initial rating of the guy because I see huge holes in his game - which I fully expect to be filled in time. But at the moment I think he is trying too hard, he looks for the more difficult ball and sometimes dwells on the ball for too long.

When you look at Torreira he simplifies the game so well and is so effective as a result. He could walk into amy team in the world including Barca and play his same game. He is a joy to watch. Nothing wrong with Guendouzi playing difficult balls but often he has no need to.

The answer may be game time for the boy, the more he plays the sooner he should figure it out. I like his other attributes.
