Unai Emery's 5 untouchables

Postby theHotHead » Tue Jun 19, 2018 11:19 am

So according to the Mirror Unai Emery claims Hector Bellerin is one of 5 untouchable players the club must keep. They suggested Lacazette is another and that it was obvious that Mikhi and Auba were 2 more. Who do we think is the 5th and, in fact, is that list a load of old rubbish ?

My 5 untouchables in no order would be:

Ozil
Auba
Mikhi
Laca

To be honest I can't even pick a 5th player ! I can take or leave the rest of them. Possibly Ramsey or Monreal, based on performances.

The same Xhaka who's been nothing short of absolute crap or are we getting his brother?

You're being hard on Xhaka. it's hard to judge a player whose main job is ball distribution when our team sucks ess. Look @ his option of who to pass the ball to. He has to go into games asking himself whether he's gonna pass the ball to Welshit or Iwobi. I think he will actually play a lot better under Emery. Finally, if you look @ his stats since he's been here, he's done better than Pogba @ United.

Edit: Just to point out, this same thing was said about Pirlo during his final stint @ ACM and we all know how that turned out for him. I'm not saying Xhaka has that level of creativity / artistry, but what I am saying is that tactics, formation, and manager determine a lot.

I understood xhaka to be the steely player we've needed for years in the middle. some pointed out his number of cards etc as a reference of his combative play.

little did we know and eventually discovered why all the cards.....he's slow and had to foul as a courtesy to the defense.

look at what brazil did to him, they over ran him and he even had to grab/hug/pull on Neymar to slow him down. xhaka may have good numbers with the ground he covers on the pitch, but most of that is running from one side of the field to the other constantly with a wee bit of side ways passing to boot.

I can understand the Pirlo comparison, but that's way off the mark. Pirlo was a genius, xhaka has a 2 cent head but a million dollar left boot. what it amounts to is that you have to pair players up with him that can deal with his shortcomings. i'm not a fan of that approach at all. covering for a player that we over paid for is just plain stupid.
cheers!

This.

Auba and Ramsey already confirmed, Ozil he's mentioned his talents, if Bellerin is 4 then likely Lacazette is 5th.

That would be my 5

Well I’d hope so anyway seeing as the rest of our players aren’t very good

Tho could see Xhaka being in that five given the new contract and how much Emery rated him beforehand

Not to sound like a bore, but I don't believe in the inhuman act of untouchability. :hiding:

That said, Auba and Ozil are our two elite players. And I wouldn't call them a lock if they don't perform. We have good options as their "back-ups" in Laca and Mkhi—like for like.

Obviously, we can't sell a band of players - but hey, it all depends on who goes and who comes in.

Can we now sign that CM, please? Because whoever comes in as our CM, hopefully top quality, would be the first name in the teamsheet for me.

There's only two confirmed rambo & auba.

These other 3 dont exist until we get to pre-season. Who ever teh remainder 3 are there's going to be some big shocks especially for fan favourites.Tell you that much.
