Just no.

Why is everyone making out Saka is a good defender??

He's a LW, everything he does good is going forward.
People said that about cole, that he was great going forward but rubbish at defending, when he first started out. He learnt and developed, no reason Saka can't too. We have plenty of wing forwards, I say keep Saka at LB and let him develop.

I'm sure if you asked Saka there's no way he'd want to be a career LB, but that's for him and Arteta to sort out.

I'm not overly comfortable with benching Tierney for Saka, fact is we don't have many if any LW's, we play Martinelli there when I think he's more a striker, we play Auba there who's def a striker.

Come summer Auba will be gone and if we don't buy a ST then its lacazette and a choice of Martinelli for 2nd choice or Nketiah (who I don't think is ready to be a 2nd choice, 3rd yes).

Maybe then Arteta will have the space to push Saka into LW.

Cole was good going forward but more in a traditional LB crossing capacity, he could also defend, Saka isn't great at defending and his forward play, nut megging people, by passing 2-3 players is def more of a LW than a LB getting forward.

I don't think benching tierney will be a problem. He's injury prone and hopefully gone in the summer.

Sorry but stop playing so much FIFA. That's a typical nonsense Ultimate Team formation. That does not ever work in real football.

442 diamonds in real football have the two wide midfield players as box to box central midfielders who do not work the flanks, they help on their designated side but in a strictly box to box role, not as a wide player. They operate as midfielders for balance with the fullbacks booming on more aggressively to provide true width, defensive responsibility remains paramount importance at all times with these players in this role..

Fifa is an easy kids game with no bearing on the real life sport because it fails to effectively simulate the midfield balance defensively in real football.

That lineup would be ripped apart by even Norwich since there is no defendive resistance in the middle whatsoever and not enough bodies to dominate and maintain possession in the middle. Look at Sampdoria and Juventus at times for good examples of a true 442 Diamond or glorified 4312 even and last but not least the famous Porto side from 2004 and some of Ancelotti variables at Milan.

Actually our ultimate lineup should be something like this with our fit players:

Martinelli---Aubameyang------Pepe
--------------------Ozil-----------------------
----------Ceballos-------Torreira---------
Saka----Luiz----Sokratis---Bellerin
-------------------Leno------------------------

With everyone fit and on form I would like to see this:

Lacazette---Aubameyang------Pepe
--------------------Ozil-----------------------
----------Ceballos-------Torreira---------
Saka----Luiz----Mari----------Bellerin
-------------------Leno------------------------

Or super ultimate lineup of:

Lacazette---Aubameyang------Pepe
--------------------Ozil-----------------------
----------Ceballos-------Luiz---------------
Saka----Mari----Sokratis----------Bellerin
-------------------Leno------------------------

Don't take it too personally. Chill, it's all me being fed up more than me even being mad at you.

I just tired of seeing formation requests like this all the time everywhere and i know its all comes from FIFA.

It for me shows how little people really get about the basic fundamentals of football these days.

Saka apparently holding out on signing for us?

Is this what its come to, when even the youth think they can play hard ball.

Sad times.

What hope have we got of keeping anyone we want like Martinelli etc? I suppose these are mid table team issues.

This is what I mean, we need to win the Europa otherwise this sh*t will only get worse.

I think martinelli is off as soon as the big ones come knocking on the door.

Unfortunately.

Remember when Wenger was handing out 50k pw contracts to the likes of Bendtner?

We need that kind of largesse now, but for a player who's actually worth it.

I agree, he'll be Real or Barca bound if he keeps improving.

However ....... if we win the Europa and get into the CL and kick on from there, the dynamics start to change.

I really hope Arteta can pull that out this year, it'll save our arses and his, he'll get more backing with CL money coming in, this is big for us this year.
