Its like going a stage further and digging up posts from some deviant web sites that specialise in child pornography and talking about them endlessly. These people are in a tiny minority and should be ignored.

But I agree, people should (like us on here) be able to remain anonymous, but have a social media registration number, to get on a site, that is linked to their passport number, or the like.

But if the media ignores the abuse you will have people on here and everywhere crying “The media is covering for the racists. The media is being complicit for ignoring and sweeping the racist abuse online under the carpet. blah blah””

In my opinion the media did the right thing, that’s what they are supposed to do. They have to Report as many serious stories as they can.. Then we the consumers can decide.. But if the media keeps picking and choosing whatever story they prefer to feed us then they will keep losing respect. People will be labelling it as media bias and propaganda.

Sometimes they are in a lose lose situation. Just take this Saka, Rashford, Sancho story as an example. They report it and some people will say, “Why are you even reporting it in the first place? You are giving these trolls media time”.

If they ignore it then you will have another group saying “See what we have bee saying all along? The British media are racists. They all ignored the racist abuse. They are covering up in order to save Englands racism problem etc”..

Fair point, but I’m saying that if you lift up any rock, something will crawl out and they are literally talking about the social media version of what is under a rock.

Most people will be disappointed, a bit upset, but massively pleased with the progress England are making in the world stage. So they should focus on that, but mention the bad stuff very briefly. Instead they are getting quotes from Prince William, Gareth Southgate, Boris Johnson et al.

You think that's bad try Poland or the Eastern bloc countries, the racism there is like Britain in the 1970's.

But they won't though and that's the problem, its become political and the Far Left throw it in our faces because they feed off the subject of racism, its their talking point, as it is with talk shows etc.

The only way to solve it is by online registration so if you post something considered hate speech it can be reported directly to the authorities and be treated just like public speech is.

I'm up for it, because this whole subject just needs to stfu once and for all so we can get on with our lives.

All so predictable. Shame.

Totally predictable, sure it is 90% from drunk people or kids who don't think about consequences.

I've been thinking about this post after reading it this morning.

The thing is, the reason for not making racist comments shouldn't be 'because there are consequences'. It should be 'because it's a c***ish thing to do'!

We are obsessed with punishing when we really should be asking ourselves what on earth people get from posting/saying shit like that.

You think of the England football team playing football - you think of mindless yobs. Not so for any other country and their national team !

Like I said, every team has its ultras, think about that Liverpool fan that got belt buckled in England a few years ago and was left in a coma. That is not what I am talking about though.

Are you talking about football in Eastern bloc countries or life in general ? If you are talking about life in general you are exaggerating. I've spent shit loads of time in Poland, Ukraine and Moscow and while there is racism there, some of the things I saw with my own eyes and did tells me that, as a black man, you need to be savvy and clued up to avoid trouble in certain areas, but for the most part you can do what you want and live like a king and even take the piss (I am not a shrinking violet) and have a great time out there !!! You may get the odd "Kunta Kinte" here and there but by and large thats about it. I made loads of friends and partied like an animal.

John Barnes calls the racism situation PERFECTLY ! Some people need to wake up and realise they are part of the problem, even though they proclaim not to be.

True. The thing is, nobody can be expected to be a saint, I am pretty sure every single person on this forum has said or thought something that was either racist or could be construed as racist, in the past month, that doesn't make you racist, its just at that moment thats the thought you had. For the vast majority of us, those comments stay within our circle of friends if it was said to a friend or it stays in our head if it was a thought. We wouldn't put it out there in the public domain and thats why I say these kids don't think about the consequences of their actions.

Enough with the brow beating.

Tell me how racism is going to be eradicated to the extent that not even a tiny minority of idiots are spewing racism.
I'd love to know.
Or are we doomed to the whole country being labelled racist forever - and it's citizens a 'problem' - unless not a single racist person exists anymore?

Are we all part of the problem of theft, murder, fraud, domestic violence, child abuse, etc.. too?
Please let me know so I can tighten my Cilise and beat myself with a stick.

We have such a crappy culture these days of a few people sitting on their high horses, on top of bully pulpits, telling everyone in society how bad they are. Screw them.

Jay you and I both know thats never going to happen, you cannot and never will eradicate racism. But the points John Barnes raises are spot on:

A) Racism has nothing to do with football, it is a problem in society. What is being done to eradicate it in society? No point banging on about football, its much bigger than that.

B) British history does not teach kids about slavery, it seeks to glorify all the things the Brits did that were good and sweep what was bad under the carpet. If kids grew up knowing about the horror of slavery you would have a better chance of getting empathetic adults out of them.

C) the radio host trying to make a big deal out of Britain being the first country to outlaw racism is a joke, like they deserve a pat on the back for doing so!

D) The English are disliked roundly across Europe.

Yes, we both know it.
So what is all this about? Why are some fringe elements on Twitter a talking point?

A) So much has been done to combat racism - to the point that it can now land a person in prison for hate crimes.
B) Kids do learn about slavery and 100's of schools around the country have gone even further to add teaching about the harmful effects of British colonialism as an official part of the curriculum. This is not a 'next' generation issue anyway. THIS generation is just fine. Enormous strides have been made. I am half tempted to link a comedy sketch from Bernard Manning from the 70's to illustrate how different things are now, but I can't stomach even searching for one.
C) Don't know what that host said exactly so can't comment.
D) Good.

I find it a real shame that so much energy and divisiveness goes into this topic. It's not a major problem anymore in this country.
If we spent as much time trying to combat poverty or child abuse (I expect the BBC will want to leave it a few years before they start virtue signalling on that one and telling us how terrible we are), far bigger issues, it would be great.

My parents were first generation immigrants Hothead, one of them not being white. They were poor. Yet here I am having flourished in this country and made great living for myself, have friends of every colour and creed and simply don't encounter racism anymore - or at least extremely rarely.
If it does ever happen, so what? I feel lucky to know about that persons mind so I can steer clear of them. Can't say it's been a major problem at any time in the last 10 years. Yet all of a sudden, out of the blue, it becomes a national issue again??? Where are all these new racists coming from all of a sudden? Answer : they don't exist. It's the same tiny minority that has been floating around like a hard to flush turd for years, but now they have a voice louder than the thousands of people for every one of them that think they are scum.

Rarely do I agree with DG, but he is right. This is a political weapon being wielded to manipulate people, no more, no less.
I mean seriously we have the likes of Boris Johnson virtue signalling on it - can you even imagine the things he was saying on the subject 30 years ago when he was alone (or even in public) with his upper class pals? He doesn't give a f*ck about it, only that he has to say something to keep the voters happy. Same with the media. The very same media outlets that were openly racist 30 years ago are now telling the country how racist we are??? They can f**k right off.

That's what REALLY pisses me off. The very same institutions that were so damn racist when I was growing up and the victim of racism are the ones telling me now that I am the problem. It's like bumping into some racist kid from school days in a pub and them telling me what I need to do and if I don't I am racist and a problem. You couldn't make this level of BS up. The only thing I find even more pathetic is some young person born in the 90;s and after bleating on about it. There seems to be a lot of them. They haven't got a f****** clue.
