I’d imagine Nketiah’s salary is going to cause some issues, he’s getting twice as much as Gabriel, 2 1/2 times what ESR gets, over 3 times what Saka gets.

Runarsson is getting 40k as well.

I need Runarsson's agent in my life

His basic was 30k when he signed in 2020 but the actual amount has supposedly increased since (probably performance related)

He's now getting 70k and we've offered 140k in a new contract .... His agent has asked for 250k and allegedly has told Arsenal that's what City will offer (no doubt an exaggeration). How loyal is he? and how much are we prepared to pay him?

To be fair how many of us would turn down an extra 5m a year ... that's if these numbers are indeed true.

I thought it had been raised to 80k after the 20/21 season, no? Or was that ESR's contract?

Sake is not a £200k player yet.

We have nobody ready to take his place though. Put him on £200k with the understanding that he can leave in 2 years.

Bollocks to that. He can have a pay rise, absolutely. But we're not some struggling bs club that needs to offer a way out. He gets a big pay rise, signs a contract and normal standards apply re leaving

What you've just suggested is a hot ticket to Arsenal being viewed by Saka and every other player as a nothing club that aren't serious about progressing. It's also no way to command a top fee if he does leave

If someone offers 250k/week, our only option is to slap 80-90mil tag on him and test their eagerness. He still has 2 yrs to go, so we can still negotiate for one year. If he's bent on leaving, let him go next year for 50mil. All this, provided he's in red hot form.

He will only resign if we are competing for the league. Remember this guy hasn’t even played a champions league game as yet. Of course he’s going to want all that. I don’t see him resigning because we are not going to be competing for the league any time soon.

He's 20 years old.

His only priority at the moment should be playing week in week out , getting better and achieving something at this level first. Let's not act like he's consistently producing at the top level or putting up elite level numbers.

He will have plenty of time to test himself in the CL and winning titles. Sign a new 5 year deal and if he then has the urge to go elsewhere he can do so at 22 / 23.

Problem with that is he will then walk away for free in two years and we will get nothing - might be the morally correct option but having players walk away for peanuts has long been our single biggest problem.

Ideally that's what he should do, just play his game. But big money and media attention frequently turns youngsters head.

Yes.

He had a great season but he's being hyped up to become something he just isn't. I still see him as a future captain, but as a versatile leader. He's not a killer attacker like some seem to think he will become.

£200m+ is silly money Saka shouldn't be near. He seems like a smart and level headed boy so this situation/headlines don't seem to be adding up to me, I don't think he is holding out for some crazy payrise and I don't think he is desperate to leave. He probably wants to see where we are headed before he commits long term

Must be confused as fuk he hasn't had to carry the team in the last 2 games.

Good thing the left and central areas are much better this year as teams can't just shut him out as many tried last year and completely nullify our attacks.
