Each year our goal is to win the league right? So when thinking about these things you think about the parts of our game that might keep us from doing so, and our defense may be one of them. I don't see the issue of him saying that?

Maybe we'll get better with time, maybe we won't, but right now it doesn't appear good enough. Not a bad thing to say imo.

Exactly, our defence has been poor and we all know if we defend like that against better teams we will get an ass whooping.

People just like to chat shit just because the likes of Merse, Adams and Wrighty tell it like it is and criticise the club it makes them anti Arsenal. Bollox. Most of the time the things Merse says are spot on

Right!

I get it though. It's hard hearing others criticize something you love.

It's like I know my country (US) has issues and I point them out all the time, but when someone else does, I get upset a first. But then I real myself back in and think about it a bit, and realize I agree. It's just tough to hear from someone else even if deep down you know it's true.

I'd love to know what his game plan is for Liverpool

Maybe give both CMs a defensive brief

He talks out of his arse.

Wright and Adams are different. What they say is constructive, and sensible.

He's an Arsenal legend you numpty.

If he's a legend in your mind, you carry on.

Well I've been supporting Arsenal for 40+ years, and I don't think he is.

He doesn't come near legend status for me.

Each to their own I suppose.

I think its more he decided to say it after a 5-1 win? or if it was before after 8 wins on the bounce.

Timing is everything.

Merson talks out his arse, I was very disappointed with the chirping coming out of our former players regarding Emery, our fans have been more sensible.

Writing him off after the City and Chelsea losses, dissing his approach, saying he's not good enough blah blah.

We are meant to be a group of grown adults on here, if people can't accept criticism of something they love then they better grow up quick cos life is not a bed of roses!

Yeah that was dumb, but for the most part all of his analysis of Wenger was spot on. Say it aint so!!

I remember when Wrighty was seemingly sniping a lot at Arsenal and a whole load of fans thought he was anti Arsenal. Absolute bollox.

For example:

Whenever Wright or Adams or Dixon say anything I get the feeling that they say it with Arsenal at their heart, and with genuine concern for the club.

When Merson says it I see a chelsea fan taking the opportunity to kick us when we're down, or talking shit to justify his pundit job.

I don't disagree with that necessarily but here is the thing. Many fans from many teams are so knee jerk. So after wins you get excessive positivity, and after losses you get excessive negativity. I kinda see it like Merson. Cause after a good run of form, and a good win like that, you have to think to yourself "do we have a chance at winning something here". Then I think you have to think of the things that might keep you from doing that. That's how some peoples minds work. It's not being negative, it's just facing reality. But too many people want pretty roses and rainbows full time in their lives and want everything to be perfect and positive. Well that isn't reality. That's just how I look at things. Only 1 team can win the league each year, so the odds are against us. It's just called being realistic and real with yourself, instead of blinding yourself with positivity and ignoring facts.
