Unai confirming that the £50-£60 million transfer kitty is Real News and not Fake News.
We are going for Free over the hill players or cheap unheard of players so far.
But at least he is trying to address our problem areas. Better than wenger just sitting there oblivious to our problems.

Not the end of the world. We have Ozil and Miki, Auba and Laca. Just need sensible signings to solidify the centre of midfield, the centre of defence and in goal. None of those positions require bank busting spending.

We’re hardly going to say we have £200m to spend. Everyone will see us coming.

Better to do an Arthur Daley when he appears in court. Stick on a well worn suit & hat, and turn your pockets out whilst pleading poverty.

From everything I’ve rad about Emery’s tactics, I’d say this is the best 11 with no new signings.

Starting eleven 433

Auba——Laca——Welbeck
——Ramsey—-Ozil
———-Chambers
Mon—Kos—Mus—Bel
————Cech

In attack, 343

Auba——Laca——Welbeck
Mon—Ramsey—-Ozil—Bel
Kos—Chambers—Mus
————Cech

Just catching up on the Argentina v Iceland game
The itv commentator just said sampaoli was responsible for signing ever banega( he thinks) for Sevilla.
He thinks wrong
It was emery who signed him in his 1st spell
He had him at Valencia as well
By the time banega rejoined Sevilla sampaoli was off coaching Argentina

This has shades of Wenger's first few weeks in charge at Arsenal. He signed players that he had identified to fill problem areas for us. Emery has bought a very good RB and now on the verge of signing a keeper and defensive midfielder. I love it !!! No drama, no long ting, no waiting until the new season is underway and trying to buy players cheap or because signing players is difficult - so some people would have us believe.

Think it will be 4-1-4-1. That will give Xhaka the space and time to execute his long passes and dictate the game from deep.

Leno
Bellerin - Mustafi* - Sokratis - Monreal
Xhaka
Ozil - Torreira - Ramsey - Mkhi**
Auba

*If he stays
**Still think we need to play with one traditional winger on the flanks

Will be very interesting to see what formation Emery settles on.

I can see what he means that the 4-1-4-1 is good for pressing but I wouldn't have Xhaka as anchor I'd rather a proper CDM.

Also I'm wondering as he said if he may try a formation to fit Laca and Auba together or not? although I am having a suspicion that he'll likely go with his favoured 4-1-4-1.

He did mention 4-4-2 but that's more of a soak it up then counter formation and I'm not sure that's what Emery is comfortable with as a first port of call, he seemed to def be keen on a high press.

I'm very happy with how everything is setting up. I said the first sign of whether Emery had his finger on the pulse would be if he bought a new first choice keeper

He's done it already and more besides, with more still to come.

A very good start.
