What is an acceptable season?

Postby LegendaryKeown » Sun May 13, 2018 6:54 pm

I think top four with signs of progress, and a nice tilt at the cups would be good enough for me. I don't expect the title in one season, but I do expect progress in the league, tightening up of the defence, and crushing the smaller teams again. Comfortable top four hopefully, and with luck, a tilt at the Europa League. What do you think the aim should be next season?

Top 4 and/or a cup trophy.

Anything more than that next season is just unrealistic imo. Also depends who comes in and how much money they're given.

Challenging for the title (winning or finishing no more than eight points behind) by the end of 20/21

I don't care about the route we take to get there

I think clear signs of progress are what's needed, and it's hard to place clear requirements for what will be deemed a "success". We could finish with 70+ points which would be a marked improvement over this season and still not qualify for the Champions League, but if the right additions are made and the team is playing well I wouldn't want to write the season off as a complete failure. We also don't know how good our domestic rivals will be.

If I had to push I would say being in serious contention for the Champions League places and a deep run into either the Europa League or FA Cup would be an encouraging season, if coupled with a much improved defensive and general progress on the field. Too early to say though.

80+ points in the league

Manager may have changed. My expectations haven't

This.

Getting back into the CL should be our main priority.

I expect Top 4, because we got the best strike force in the pl, best playmakers along with city and a box to box midfielder who can get double figures.

We could do with a winger but the offensive side is there, teams with far less a budget have a better defence than us.

Expectation all boils down to who we get, if it is allegri I can't see how we will fail to get top 4, as there is no way we don't impotve massively on a defensive front.

If it is arteta I have no idea what to expect as we have no idea of what he will be capable of.

Acceptable? As in not enough to get sacked? Top 6.
Preferably top 4 though.

An improvement on 6th for starters.

To be honest my estimations will be set depending on who we appoint as manager but again, the good thing is whoever that is .......... they are accountable and not untouchable like Wenger was.

If they do take a gamble with Arteta, it may be a very short gamble and the season after they'll have to get someone experienced in.

So my optimism is high regardless, the new manager whoever it is will be desperate to succeed, they are not unsackable.

CL qualification or FA Cup or League Cup.

Qualifying for the CL will probably be easier said than done but we must get back into the competition ASAP

Europa league win, no excuses unless we come up against some random Bayern like team in the semis because of general fuckery.

Top 4 minimum, we can't let ourselves slide out of relevance for much longer, I'm really not too confident kronke will start spending to bridge the gap needed to improve the squad properly to get us back to where we need to be.

Defensive reinforcements, deadwood gone, some proper players coming in to revamp our play.

Hopefully some sexy football again.

Doesn't matter who's manager, CL qualification is the bare minimum, whether it comes from finishing top four or winning the EL.

We have the attack. Fortify the defense and sort our away form, and Arsenal can compete with any club domestic or abroad.
