“The prices for the stadium have doubled but the transfers of players have tripled or quadrupled,” Wenger said. “Today, a guy like Harry Kane – I don’t know for much they can sell him: £100m? So they might have more supply. But they have to face it. Will Tottenham have to sell players? To Arsenal, maybe.”

You don't need to be an Einstein to know Wenger f***ked up by breaking up the Invincibles far too early. Why would you break up that team so early?? What the hell was he thinking!!

I don't remember anyone screaming about this back in 2004/05, or even till 2008.

We didn't have the means to scream about it then. Im pretty sure everyone thought "what the hell are you doing" but then trusted Wenger because until that point we had no reason not to.

But nobody could possibly have been pleased about it. I remember being fuming about the 1 year contract and losing Pires, thought it was a bad dream.

The irony of Wenger changing his over 30 policy being something that cost us and him in more recent years lol

It's a damning indictment that the last few pages discuss great teams/players/stadium all things that occurred a decade ago ... shows just how bad the last ten years have been when nobody even wants to talk about them ....

A point on the stadium ....

Someone (sorry can't remember who) pointed out that under Wonger we had no debts for a decade whereas Utd, Chelsea, City. Dippers all ran up huge mountains of debt ....

In business that means we failed ... if you don't leverage your assets to allow growth your rivals will ... far from a 'measure of success' this is a massive failure ... in Wonger's own words 'The prices for the stadium have doubled but the transfers of players have tripled or quadrupled' so for our club to have left money in the bank when we could have doubled, trebled, quadrupled it .... that's an epic fail

Wonger's ridiculous financial naivety (the professor you're having a laugh) has dropped our club from the top to sixth in just ten years ...

Just imagine we'd spent the 300m that our rivals have borrowed ... we could be the ones 20 points clear, in a CL final, looking forward to CL football next season ... but we're not and that is all Wonger's fault .....

and just remember that 300m on player would have 'trebled or quadrupled' ... not my words but Wonger's ... we'd have players worth an extra billion pounds Neymar, Hazard, KDB could all be ours ....

But hey we've got a great bank statement .... yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Yeah and no one was on it, and if they were they certainly weren't debating football.

You can't compare the internet of 15 years ago to the internet of today.

It's an entirely different world, literally.

My point is there were not hundreds of different outlets to discuss football back in 2004 like there are today.

Is anyone else worried that we might drop out of the top four or that our best players might leave? :hiding:

Lacked natural width, pace and goals tbh.

we were the second highest scoring team in the league, 6 behind united who had ronaldo tevez and rooney ffs

that team was so so good. if we had the funds back then there was a title to be had

I mean goals from midfield.

How many league goals did them four score between themselves?

18 goals between those players in the 07/08 season
Diaby got 1 v Derby home as did Gilberto home to reading
So 20 goals from midfield that season
