Henry was massively arrogant and egotistical and he’s Wenger’s greatest player success story

But the twist is that unlike other star players, Henry owed everything to Wenger so had a loyalty towards him other stars wouldn't have.

He was also kept in check by playing alongside the likes of Bergkamp and Vieira.

Vieira was also massively egotistical, wanted to leave every summer and was a mercenary

Arsene could handle big egos and was very good at nullifying the weaknesses that game with them. He just did it in his own roundabout way

That being said he never really brought a ready made player with that ego in himself, which tbf I think was fair enough

Sanchez didn't have that ego when he walked through our doors, he was a reject from Barcelona.

Sanchez got an ego at Arsenal because we gave him god status and Wenger played him every game so he got in top form in a team who valued him.

Then his ego ran amok.

Wrong, i saw interviews before his time at Arsenal where he was saying he believes he is the best player in the world.

You need to stop this Vieira was a mercenary narrative.

He wanted to win the CL, it wasn't about the money.

If he was a mercenary he would've joined United when he threatened to in '02; Madrid were also interested in him when he left, he would've made more money there than at Juventus.

id say wanting to leave literally every summer is a mercenary move regardless of the money on the table

he didnt give a f**k about anyone else bar himself, which is completely fair enough and would never begrudge him for it

We wasn't investing much from 02 onwards the summer i think he started wanting to leave, looking at the summer business in them years you would think we would probably regress.

In 02/03 we blew a 8 point lead, in 03 summer the only real player we brought in was Lehman, the rest was cesc, clichy, senderos and djohour all kids that were purchased for the Emirates move 3 years later, its easy to understand why paddy would have been pissed.

Agreed. He won two Copas during his time at Arsenal. He had his best season ever under Wenger.

Wenger's ability to extract the best from footballers is unparalleled. He's criminally underrated in that department. I'd dare say he might be the best in the world when it comes to bringing the very best out of players, sheer ability-wise.

P.S. Alexis had ego issues since before he joined us. He left Barca because he couldn't live in Messi's shadow. Alexis has always been the star of his team and he couldn't take not being one at Barca.

We should have won three straight title between 2001 - 2004. The way we bottled the title in 02/03 is unforgivable.

Henry and Vieira were big characters on the pitch but ‘nice guys’ off it. Players like Wrighty and Podolski are the type of players Wenger can’t handle. Lots of over-enthusiasm and joking around.

Jeez, Henry is one of the most difficult personalities. Vieira was difficult too but for different reasons. He woudn't find minor issues to moan about as Henry did apparently.

Henry was the master of moaning and making a manager's life miserable over tiny issues.

Yeah and what happened? :rofll:

Btw we also bought RVP, you know, our future world class player along with Cesc.

Vieira turned into a bellend and still is.
