People have forgotten that we were a top-4 club under Wenger even during his latter years and won trophies while he was at his worst.

Emery is only getting compared to Wenger of 17/18. Even in 16/17, we got record points for a club not in the top-4 and won the FA Cup.

We will have to win one of the two remaining Cups to have a season better than Wenger's worst season ever at Arsenal.

Perspective.

Bunch of nonsense.

He's not being compared to 17/18 because It's Wenger's worst season but because that's the trash he's inherited with very little investment. What do you want us to do, compare this team to the Invincibles?

Also, based on your comments, it seems like you've given up on top 4. Do you realize we're going through our worst injury ridden part of the season and we're still 2 points away from Top 4?

Only thing i agree on is that we shouldn't be blaming Wenger for anything that's going on right now. In fact, we shouldn't be mentioning Wenger at all.

Everyone needs to calm down with the overreactions. It's like you're all racing for who's going to be the first one to start shitting on him so that you can be the one to say "i told you so" when he ends up leaving the club.

Our biggest issue with Wenger was never that he isn't getting the best out of this squad. It was that he's not investing in the right places, or in the right kind of player, and that he's not learning from his mistakes.

Wenger deserved to turn it round then
Why would we bring back someone who failed to improve?

A man who speaks my language. We are now only three years short of the gap between the 1971 and 1989 title wins

A league finish other than first is only acceptable if it is part of an ongoing upward trajectory

We’ve strengthened since Wenger left. Bought two quality midfielders, two experienced defenders and a starting goalkeeper. Will also have two top strikers available together for the first time since RVP and Ade days. This is the best squad we’ve had in ten years. Wenger would be making top four with this lot.

It was like the were perfectly synced together physically, mentally and ability wise.

Vieira was a bit like ramsey/yaya where he'd launch immediately forward with the ball leaving 3-4 players destroyed. Petit was always perfectly placed to sit back as the out ball, to stamp out a counter or to redistribute the early long ball.

He was everything xhaka was meant to be but with pure ability and athleticism to get up and down plus the concentration to be on alert at every moment.

Those two were perfect for a flat 4 midfield in a 442 together. I'd never seen a midfield partnership like it before or since tbh.

They were like twins only one was hench and black Senegalese french and the other was a blonde ponytailed Frenchman.

Gilberto was much closer to the makelele type at the base of a 3 man midfield. Not as well rounded or talented as petit but an absolute master in the art of defensive midfield.

95% of his yellow cards (and he was never sent off for us iirc) were given because he decided it needed to happen. He knew exactly what needed to be done and when and never flapped.

That man played like his family was held hostage and he had to put out a performance to save their lives EVERY f***ing GAME.

I will always pick petit because he was just an all round better player but don't get it twisted, I worship Gilberto with every fibre of my body and am still pissed we firstly stripped the captaincy off him to give to cesc so he would stay ffs and secondly that we sold him and diarra in the same window like idiots.

Vieira was two players in one body. It was like having 12 men on the park. Never going to be another.

We are a top 2 club historically
We didn't win anything last season
We lost a semi in the Europa league and went out the fa cup in the 3rd
So how would winning one of these trophies not be better than that?
We also have more points at this stage of the season last year
In fact more than in 5 of the years where Wenger didn't win a trophy
In fact it's the best start by a manager at Arsenal in 32 years and had we won on Boxing Day it would have been better than Graham's start as well

He left a bunch of winners, not a squad that had their confidence and any ounce of tactical awareness depleted out of them.

It wasn't a very good squad but tbf fergie walked have still have walked top 4 minimum and probably found a way to be in the mix if he had of stayed in.

Yes, fergies ability to get shit players performing how he needed them was second to none and has no bearing on the overall quality he left moyes.

That’s and RVP basically won fergie the title then spent 1/3 of the season injured under moyes.

Our post wenger squad is comfortably better than what he left at United. Fergie over performed, wenger under performed.

Perspective? 20 years against 6 months, Mate? And it will be really hard for any coach to win an FA Cup in December.

Good
so lets compare Wenger's first year at the club with Emery's . That would be fair wouldnt it

Emery 1st 28 games w18 d 6 l 4
Wenger1st 28 games w12 d 9 l 7
