Here's the rub from my perspective.

When we say someone is a "confidence player" it doesn't mean confidence is important to them - that's true of every player - but that their confidence is volatile.

You can have confidence players in a title winning team. You can. But not in certain positions where you need strict consistency. The striking position is absolutely one of those positions.

Havertz may have the physical attributes required to be a striker. He may even have the technical ones. But he doesn't have the psychological traits required. You need someone with bulletproof confidence up front. He's definitely not that.

He is not a powerhouse in the air as claimed often, he does miss a few sitters. He does not hold the ball up. But he has the X factor that works in the system.

Confidence, seems lacking but he has a calm about him. Ozil but with effort, lots of effort,
Big Balls rocks.

He was awful but an assist and a goal will do nicely

He is a guy who, if you rewatch a game such as this or most really, he is often critical to our shape especially in the press. The press we do is not just to create scoring chances as they do, but defensively it all starts there.

And he gets a bunch of headed clearances in our box.

Here’s the point people miss. Our first goal came from a CAM, second from a holding midfielder and third from a defender. Our forward were pants till then. When the pressure was on Havertz missed a sitter and Martinelli botched holding his run despite having all the time. Havertz scored the fourth goal when there was no pressure and the game was put to rest. This is the difference between winning the league and losing it despite scoring lots of goals. His goal numbers don’t tell the full story.

This and thats a key pointe and the reason why I don't shit on him. Off the ball he does a lot of good things, his interplay is brilliant. Its just his finishing is terrible.

People talk about Watkins, he won't give us the same as Havertz and his goal scoring is only marginally better, I wouldn't get rid of Havertz for Watkins.

The hatred for goals on here is baffling. That's ultimately what's being said with the Havertz over Watkins choice

As well as scoring, Watkins also provides a healthy amount of assists and, since joining Villa in 2019-20 he is just one of three players to have managed 100 goal involvements or more in the Premier League.

A no brainer

Havertz must be top 5 then if it's marginal?

Compare the clubs both have played for. European champions and title contenders for Havertz.

A Dean Smith managed villa. Who? A Gerrard managed villa, lol. And a failure at Arsenal in emery managed villa.

The real issue is that we need a backup, and top strikers won't come to be a part time player. Havertz is not going anywhere, but Edu and Arteta took a gamble that Jesus and he could combine for maybe 24 goals. I'm sure we all had the midfielders scoring more, especially with the amount of chances we have missed all season.

Its not like Watkins was going to come in and Havertz be benched.

Never scored 15 goals in England before. But still not the answer. he's mid. We clearly need more than him.

Deserves credit for his highest goal-scoring season in England and a near 1:2 scoring record.
Just imagine if e had an actual striker.

he missed an open chance. not the first time nor the last time. We clearly need a striker. he's not it. even if he's literally posting record numbers, he's not it.
beating City 5-1 just means that a massive problem we know is there is exposed even more.
or is the common view amongst Gooners and rivals alike about us needing a striker is false?
