The rumour is that the deal has no option to buy, which rubs me the wrong way. We're essentially assuming Real's responsibilities to develop Ceballos for a year, and we won't be able to enjoy the fruits of our labour in the long term. Oh well, we're a small big club now so I guess that comes with the territory.

Also, there's a huge risk involved in this deal. Premier League clubs have loaned players from Real and Barca over the last few years, and the most prominent players (Deulofeu, Jese, Denis Suarez) haven't been all that successful. If Ceballos doesn't hit the ground running, we're in enormous trouble.

Nevertheless, it's a signing we've needed. One down, three to go.

James Rodriguez has just been on a 2 year loan from Real Madrid
I guess bayern Munich are a small club now
Kovacic when on a year long loan to from Real Madrid
I guess Chelsea are not a big club now
Laurie Cunningham went on loan from Real Madrid
I guess man Utd are not a big club now
Sahin went on a year long loan from Real Madrid
I guess Liverpool are not a big club now
Hakimi is on a 2 year loan from Real Madrid
I guess dortmond are not a big club now
When we got baptista on loan having just been in the champions league final
Reyes was loaned the other way
I guess Real Madrid are not a big club now

Can we afford to buy him? I just checked his stats and it is really amazing. He runs forward, he presses, he defends, he can scores, and his passing is superb. He has a very long contract with Real Madrid though. Anyway, it's very nice to have him here.

maybe not but a loan extension for another season if he does well could potentially benefit both sides.

Hopefully he does well, falls in love with the club, and Madrid don't wont him back. I think the stars would need to align pretty well for us to keep him. But lets see how he does first.

Ceballos debut today against Lyon?

When his signing was announced it was mentioned that Dani will feature in the Emirates Cup.

Whether that means he'll be involved today remains to be seen. Looks like he might, though, going by the nature of that tweet.

Oooh Come on Dani
Better than a scum called Alli
At this moment, you mean everything
Just look at him in that shirt,
Or wait until he converts,
Verge on dirty
Ah, Come on, dani!!!

He looks quality all right.

Very clever at pressing and winning the ball back as well as playing the right pass. Really looking forward to seeing him play for us.
