Looks like Spurs demanded an option-to-buy we are happy with just a one year loan ... not sure what commitment we will get from a player just marking time until he returns to RM .... looks a bit like a Gap-Year to me .... however no transfer fee, low wages, decent player ... let's hope it works out

We used to buy players like this like it was nothing ............ that is what I'm lamenting.

How far we've fallen.

Is this guy any better than Nasri was? Rosicky? Cazorla? Sanchez?

Now we can only loan a player, its depressing.

If Real sign big players like Pogba and Eriksen, then the competition in midfield will be too big for him and he could make a permanent move to us, if he has a good season. There are a lot of variables but lets hope everything falls into place for us.

Yes. No. No. Not a similar position.

He'd easily be our best mid. Also means we wouldn't have to play Xhaka/Guendouzi every game.

Assuming his wages are reasonable, this is a win for all parties. He gets game time, we get a good midfielder for a year and Madrid will get back a more experienced player when they actually need him which is not now.

Anything to avoid seeing Xhaka, Guendouzi and Ozil all in the same team tbh

He’s on €3m a year, pretty low

Deffo a good option for us, I think on loan even for a year he will have something to prove to Madrid for going back he’s not going to put minimal effort in he will give it his all to get noticed

Gives us a year to find A proper replacement for Ramsey. Given out financial constraints let's hope we make cl and get a class cm.

Good win for Raul.

1 Yr loan done. Trying to include option to buy , could also include RM buy-back option in future.

Anyone watched him enough to make a judgment whether he’s going to take a while to settle ?

reliable source

what a signing, exactly what we need in midfield

stats when he was at real betis in 16/17 (when he was 19/20)

24 starts
2.7 dribbles p/g
fould 3.9 times p/g (defenders no choice but to bring him down)
1.3 key passes
5 tackles and interceptions p/g

quality acquisition for the season and fills a huge ramsey shaped gap whilst he hopefully brings us CL football in order to pay up for a permanent replacement
