We don't have any other central midfield players we can say that about.

I agree with this, Ceballos plays those "around the corner" forward passes, pass and move, only Partey of our other midfielders has that in his locker.

He made a big mistake, can't crucify him for it otherwise we wouldn't have a team left to play, they have ALL made big mistakes - mostly lol.

With Xhaka, ESR, Saka and Odegaard we have enough players who can pick out good passes.

He must go back ASAP. Never was good enough

I wouldn't be so hasty. Odegaard is more latter day Ozil than prime Ozil, looks neat and tidy but too safe, doesn't play the passes that will unlock a team, he only really seems to when there is absolutely no opposing player around him, which is not often.

ESR with his running is far more effective, I wouldn't say he has the passes to unlock teams, he gets into a position that allows him to cross or pull back to one of our players.

In any case both players play more advanced than Ceballos, I am talking about those round the corner pass and move passes in tight deep lying midfield positions that Ceballos tends to occupy, not advanced CAM positions

Not from those deep positions.

We shouldn't send him back until we have someone better.

Yes we should send him back because he offers absolutely nothing. Xhaka is perfectly able to do passes. I f***ing hate xhaka but thats probably the only thing he is actually good at.

We are perfectly fine passing wise without ceballos. One of the worst loan players we ever had.

Dejan you are dreaming if you think Xhaka can play the passes Ceballos plays. He is too slow to move and too slow in thought to play them, Ceballos can play in tight situations, Xhaka can only play when given time and space.

What DON'T we get a lot of in the midfield in English football? Time and space. Its why Xhaka gets disposessed so much.

Lets look at the stats. Xhaka had scored one goal to Ceballos' 0, both players have 2 assists each, Ceballos has created 3 big chances to Xhaka's 2.

29.7% of Ceballos' passes are forward, 27.6% of Xhaka's passes are forward. Ceballos has played 6 through balls to Xhaka's 3. Ceballos has been dispossessed 9 times versus 11 for Xhaka (thought there would be a much bigger gap).

Ceballos has put in 4 blocks to Xhaka's 5, Ceballos has 29 interceptions vs 16 for Xhaka. Xhaka has made more tackles than Ceballos but both have made 16 successful tackles.

Many of those games they played together. Ceballos attacking stats will be better because when they play together Xhaka has to do all the defensive work that Ceballos is rubbish at.

Barely any noticable difference between the two. Which means that, since xhaka is awful, deballos is just slightly better than awful

Which can only mean one thing in the summer. Get rid of them both. Maybe add in guendouzi next to partey, if he stopped acting like a prick

I really can't see how people think he's awful. I think he's OK.

Defensively not great but if you take the other night as an example, he shouldn't have been put in that position anyway. The defender should have got closer to the opponent.

Agreed.

Xhaka is a long range passer, the passes we're talking about with Ceballos are the ones up close near the box when the team has driven forward.

Xhaka is very slow with those, he's pulled off the odd one from a litte bit further but he never drives right up to the box and helps the wingers and Fullbacks with one touch passing to unlock the defense.

If the invincibles had cazorla instead of gilberto would they have still been invincible?

No.

The Invincibles were perfect. You can't compare any team or group of players to the best we've ever had.

But if we had prime Cazorla to rotate, as a bench option, we might have knocked Chelsea out in the UCL and might have been in the final that season.

Dani and Xhakha comparisons are a waste of time and space. Dani bang average and Xhakha slightly below. Either shouldn't be playing for Arsenal.
