The point of the statues is not just to celebrate success, but to honour those that gave the best years of their lives/careers to the club.
Technically, we've got a statue of a drunk driving piss head nutcase who had a very ropey start to his arsenal career outside the stadium. Should that have even gone up given the negative aspects of his life during his time with us?
Apparently not.
I get people questioning timing but whether or not he's going to get one is a pointless conversation imo.
If you don't think he should have one, prepare yourself for disappointment
Lol prepare myself for disappointment!? Not to worry, having endured the last decade under the man I'm an expert at enduring fricking disappointment...
And again, no one really can doubt how great his achievements were 14 years ago. But saying that he gave the 'best years of his life/career' to the club is a stretch. I mean technically yes he did, because 1996-2006 were the best years of his career, and yes he did give that to the club. But when that's 10 years out of 22 with arguably the last 10 years (after all the board money constraints stuff is taken away) overseeing the embarrassing fall and loss of identity of this club...where does that leave us.
He gave us his best years sure. And we can guess and speculate as to how many new managers we will have to go through and how successful they will be in this 'roulette' as you called it. But in my mind there is no doubt that had wenger just walked the f**k away even back in 2014 we would have been 4 years better off in rebuilding. He insisted on staying, ended up spending significant money on several players we all now deem not good enough, lord knows how all of those screw ups will hinder the next manager.
Essentially he has harmed the club, be it for the last half season, 2 seasons or 5, everyone has their own perspective on when exactly his ego and stubbornness took over his supposed 'love of arsenal' but no one can argue against it happening at some point.
So yeah you'll have to excuse me if I discount the great things he did all those years ago, cause in my mind none of that is worth sh*it if you so much as damage the club for your own self interest even just for one day.
Again I'm sure they will unveil a 20 foot monument in his name, I'd expect no less of this club and fans to gaude over it cause they seemingly haven't given a f**k about being screwed over in broad daylight for many years now so wouldn't surprise me
