Don't think he starts with us until February.

How are these the type of signings we should be making? It's the same signings we've been making for the last 10 years, most of which have flopped and either never played for the first team or been awful when they have.

Not impressed, this is a typical Wenger signing, an unknown kid from a nothing club, I reckon this guy will go the same way as all the others, the rubbish heap, rather than waste a couple million on him we should be putting that towards the top quality talent we're so against signing because they cost too much.

Sanellhi starts in Feb, Mislentat started in December. He has a large amount of sources in greece, he scouted this bloke at dortmund before bringing him here

Expect more of the same signings for lowish fees, if a couple work out then it’s great

How do you kow he scouted him for Dortmund? If he did indeed scout the guy for Dortmund and they didn't sign him, they clearly didn't think he was all that.

Anyway my point being is we need to spend money on players read to slot into the first team now, the time for the youth project is gone, especially if we have to pay 2 odd million for these kids, we tried we failed, now it's time to build a decent 1st team, once we have that we can worry about the youth team.

I don't for oe minute believe we can do both either, with all our penny pinching these few million could be the difference between signing someone and not signing them.

I know he scouted him for Dortmund because it came out in the press, he must’ve spotted him during the period he knew he was going to leave. He signed a Greek player for Dortmund not too long ago

£2m is absolutely nothing, there is 0 risk involved. £2m isn’t going to prevent us bidding £60m for Mahrez

I f***ing hate it when people moan about the club for no reason. It’s so f***ing stupid

Name one similar signing

Bielik
Vela
Wellington Silva
Viviano
Eisfeld
Ryo Miyaichi
Barazite
Asano
Lupoli

Do you want any more?

Have you seen the player's profile? Not even close to any of those names. We're also loaning him directly to a club in the Bundesliga where he'll start games. This is not true for any of those signings (Asano went to Buli2)

Because they share the same agent as one of Dortmund's defenders, and the agent has had contact with said person related to this player.

I'm all for signing young talents and all but do we really need more young centre back prospects we already have Chambers, Bielik and Holding then the more experienced lot in Mertesacker, Mustafi and Koscielny. If anything we need more experienced ones as Mertesacker will be gone at the end of the season, Koscielny is 32 and plays through pain these days then theirs Mustafi who wanted out last summer.

I think our club should be able to set apart 10-15 million for these ventures, could get 4-5 of these type of players each season and hope for the best. Plus, he's going out on loan, so not going to be on the bench. Imagine if he does well in the Bundesliga, that'll be more experience than Holding has even now.

Personally think Chambers has potential, but Holding is not mentally strong enough to be a CB for us

2 million here and there does exactly that, we penny pinchers extraordinaire, I prefer that we don't waste any money on nobodies who will never make it and instead spend it on proven players. Better still, would prefer we don't spend a penny until that guy who is in charge is nowhere near this club.

Moan at the club for no reason? Are you kidding me, have you seem the state of this club, a complete mess, 2nd tier, 2nd rate club thank to one man and his ideas, didn't think this season could be worse than the last, but nothing is much of a surprise with that man in charge, this signing has all the hallmarks of his failed youth policy.

Some Arsenal fans seem to have no breaking point with regards Wengers and his broken policies, every season they still find excuses and suger coat everything that is actually happening.

Profile? What profile, he's an unknown kid who doen't even play for one of the top teams in Greece, he's no different to any of those mentioned, if anything he's even lower profile if it's possible.

Yeah we're sending him out on loan, we've done that with a number of players and they've never come back in many cases and in almost all cases even if they have they've never amounted to anything.

I can add Sanogo to that list as well.

Vasilis added: "He’s considered the ‘next big thing’ in terms of Greek defenders after the likes of Panagiotis Retsos (Bayer Leverkusen), Sokratis (Borussia Dortmund) and Manolas (Roma) left Greece for Europe.

"Olympiakos was close to signing him in October for €1m. However, it was not an official offer from Olympiakos. They wanted to have the first refusal on the player if he became for sale in January. PAS told them that if they received a better offer from outside they will accept it, which is why he is now heading to Arsenal."

Also shares the same agent with Sokratis btw, you can tell a lot about a player from the agent he has.

Yes, and where have 2 million here and there stopped us from spending? Believe me, even if we don't buy him, we're not going to give that extra q10 million to get a player. That's on Wenger. Club has 200 million in the bank, highest tickets in Europe and makes a profit every year. Our billionaire owners do nothing.

Exactly, what we need is a quality centre back in his mid 20s, not some kid who if he does even play won't be ready until 2025.

Additional Info for those interested:
"Interestingly, Arsenal’s chief scout Sven Mislintat watched Greece Under-20s play last summer and signed young Olympiakos player Argiris Kampetsis (for Mislintat's former club Borussia Dortmund). He clearly has knowledge of the Greek market and Mavropanos’ arrival could be the start of similar signings, if his previous work is anything to go by.

Giannis Petrakis trusted him enough to put him in the starting line-up for games against Veria and AEK Athens this season, and he was voted man of the match against AEK. AEK Athens were Runners Up in the Superleague Greece btw

At a club like ours 10-15 million is the difference between signing someone top class or not signing them, we're so cheap that every penny counts. Wenger and co are always whining about not being able to compete, or not enough money being available and yet they waste money on nobodies on a regular basis.

This isn't some normal club, it's a freakish interpretation of a football club that charges sky high prices and not only spends as little as possible but also delivers a substandard product, as a business it wouldn't last long in the real world.

The day the club has enough sense to understand this, these signings again, won't matter.

I don't think any of those defenders are all that to be honest so that doesn't say much to me, Greece doesn't really have any standout talents. Dortmund aren't the team they use to be either.

We're signing him for what 2 1/2 times that, we must have the worst negotiators in football if Olympiakos nearly got him for 1 million Euros a few months ago.

I'm not hopeful about this guy at all, we've had plenty of better known youngsters fail.

Might be true, but then Xhaka was supposedly a world beater and in the Bundesligue team of the season, yet he can't pass, tackle of defend so these facts don't mean a lot in reality.

Heard this hype about these youngsters many times before, that's all it is hype, mostly unwarranted.
