Luiz is our best CB, I like most others had had enough of him after that clanger when he came on against Man City, but bear in mind, apparently he wasn't fit to play in that game and only did so to help the team out because we didn't have any fit CBs.

Since then he has showed his quality against the best teams in the league.

Well I hope Mari or Saliba will be our best centre backs but Luiz is fine as a backup.

With Mari, Saliba and potentially this Brazilian bloke coming in Arteta will have lots of options for formations and systems, at the back at least.

I'm excited to see how we look at the back, surely this season we should see a marked improvement in our defending, especially with 2 very competent goalkeepers to choose from.

Arsenal and Brazil centre-back David Luiz, 33, could miss the first month of the season after he aggravated a neck problem. (Telegraph - subscription required)

Looks like saliba and magaluf dude it is

Our best CB is back fantastic stuff, hopefully we keep him for another 2 years man one of the greatest to wear the 23 alongside Campbell, Arshavin and Welbeck.

I thought he was awful today.

Should have been sent off first 5 minutes had VAR done its job - the result could have been very different.

Agreed. Looks like it doesn't get much attention from our fans because we ended up winning the game.

I also didn't like how, after Leno's clearance, Luiz gave Gabriel a bollocking when he, himself, had ample time to get the ball out of his feet. Instead, Luiz hesitated and subsequently let the ball run across his body, instead of distributing the ball to Elneny directly (who had quarter of a football field for himself).

It's the Premier League and it's 2020. Because most teams press from the front, the days of having 5 seconds on the ball as a CB are over (unless teams are a goal or two up and happy to defend their lead). Also, thank f**k Leno saw it coming from miles out and took up a good starting position, which allowed him to bail Luiz out.

Should have been sent off for what ?? This is a contact sport, not all contact is a foul.

In no case does a player ever 'accidentally' pull an opponent's shirt. Five to ten players get sent off every Premier-League season for similar shirt pulls.

We're very lucky Oliver Burke didn't throw himself to the floor, because things may have looked very different.

Just last season, Luiz himself got sent off against Liverpool for a similar incident involving his shirt-pull on Mo Salah (who did resort to theatrics).

ceballos also clumsily challenged lundstram in the box, any other player they wouldnt went down and it wouldve been 100% a pen

lucky this was the rare occasion where our brainfarts didnt cost us

Very true. Another incident that could easily have cost us the game. On the flip side, Berge was also lucky to remain on the field for his tackle on Aubameyang.

Regarding Burke/Lundstram, it's paradoxical how, throughout the history of the game, teams repeatedly get punished for being honest. (And people wonder why theatrics are such a big part of the sport.)

Very very rarely do we see a penalty given when a player manages to stay upright in the box, despite being fouled (or one or multiple occasions) in a single sequence.

I don't agree, I hear you, don't get me wrong, but the punishment "should" fit the crime and most of the time it doesn't.

Take Martial's red card, how the hell was that a red card ? Things have been taken too far now. Pulling a shirt is not a card, pulling a shirt hard enough to stop an opponent from moving in the direction they intend is a card. The letter of the law is continually proven to be complete nonsense, hence the ongoing handball debate and drama, hence the offside debate and drama. If Martial struck the player in the face properly fair enough, but what he did warranted a talking to at best, especially taking into account what that dirty cheating prick Lamela did leading up to it.

People suggested the Gabriel handball should have been a penalty a couple of games ago, when he went to head the ball but it hit his arm. Absolutely not, at no time was that a handball unless you are employing the stupidest handball rule ever.

Martial was a red. Laws the law. It's a stupid law considering what Luke shaw did was far worse but that's just a yellow?

Yes, doing well today. The forward line is a bit short hence we are not 2-0 up.
