That’s a tired and incorrect argument. Look how much we’ve spent in the last 5 years and even the last two since he took full ownership.

Spending isn’t the problem.

Although he was also very good in the defeat to Chelsea for Arteta's first game wasn't he? Feel like he and Auba had huge games that day.

Anyway for a ball playing team passing out from the back he has some quality but bound to make an error at some point. They're clearly trying to prioritise a couple of big signings by keeping cheap backups imo, just shit timing to do his new deal after the calamity vs City.

I have been championing Luiz since we signed him, but his last outing was the last straw for me.

Now I have thought about it and calmed down, he is still our best CB and his playing out from the back is terrific. He was playing very well before the break as well, so, I am not overly opposed to him continuing on.

Huh ?? Have you not seen how much we spent this season, when apparently we had £30-50m only to spend ? We obliterated it by buying Pepe alone.

Truth is you have no idea what the story is with the purse strings and neither does anybody else. We should assume therefore that its a case of, as you were.

Big signings! You’re living in dreamland.

Agreed, their won't be any big signings, if we get any (which with having re-signed Soares, Luiz and Mari we might not) it will be freebies, swaps or cheap buys.

Would have thought Arsenal fans might have realised by now that we don't really want to spend.

We have given Luiz an extension because we can't afford to sign a centre-back in the transfer window. We've messed up too many times, and here we are now.

Chelsea got rid of Pter once he was over the hill and moved on.

We got him and played him for years.
