Cech replacement?

I think it has slowly gotten to a point where most of us agree Cech needs replacing, preferably sooner rather than later.

Which goalie do you think qualifies as a competent, realistic long-term successor of big Pete and why?

Every member gets 2 votes. Goalkeepers are listed by birth year.

Lots of good names there, some of whom I've never seen play before. Going to vote for the keeper I've always been a huge fan of: Oblak.

My second vote is a toss up. Huge fan of German keepers so I would gladly take most German keepers. Handanovic is another one I like but is getting old. Voted for Ter Stegen in the end since I've watched him more than the others

I went with Schmeichel, already plays in England, good at catching the ball, not a drama queen, solid keeper. Made the odd mistake but name a keeper that hasn't.

Said it at the start of last season that Cech should be at best a No-2 for us.

Jan Oblak without a shadow of doubt but the chances of us signing him are next to remote.

Baumann or Horn
Both are really good end of story.

Horn, agree.
Very young age and has international exposure already (German Olympic silver medalist team).

Good list. I think I'd be okay with anyone above Patricio with few exceptions. Pickford and Butland would cost too much.

Oblak and MAtS are the bests on the list but they are unrealistic. Not the one of the bests but so is Donnarumma. I think having Lafont while keeping Cech is the best option for the position. If Cech is leaving then maybe someone like Rico would be more comfortable with starting role. Any Bundesliga keeper except Sommer (height could be a problem, he's like 1.83) from the list would be good too.

Went with Lafont and Horn as they don't seem completely out of reach like Oblak and Don Gigio.

Lafont (18) is a terrific talent and comes across extraordinarily mature for his age.

Horn, haven't seen an awful lot of him but I trust Schlandi's judgement.

There was no Frazer forster option so I'd name him as first choice if he was there. Absolute beast and I think he's going to become a proper solid keeper in the future.

I voted lafont and butland although thinking about it further, I'd probably go for horn and farhmann.

Lafont mainly because he's an immense talent but on the down side he's so young. We would inevitably go through some sort of learning phase like szcezney did to get him to where he is now and I can't stand people bitching about why an 18 year old isn't on the same level as an established keeper.

Butland because he's another good young option that already knows the prem.

There are loads of other options on that list so it was pretty hard to settle on one, but regardless, we need a long-term solution and it's a real shame we let one walk away from us this season ffs.

Oblak, Donnarumma and Ter Stegen for me. Ter Stegen has been amazing so far this season.

A bit of a joke having a 33 year old on the list though
