The FA consider it a friendly.

That's why banned players are eligible to play in it and red cards received in a CS match don't carry over to the PL.

I don't know officially, but I always assumed goals wouldn't count for the same reason.

Strange if you ask me. In Spain, the Super Cup is accepted as an official game alongside goals, assists, cards, etc.

Whilst classed as a friendly, it certainly has the feel of an important game. If League Cup first round vs Oxford or whatever counts, so should the Community Shield

One is an official competition the other is a friendly so it's a stupid comparison imo.
By that standard you could also argue that EL matches vs. some eastern Europe crapteam doesn't count

My point is they both should count. I agree any Europa league or League cup game should count. But so should the Community Shield

So you have to count among others the Emirates Cup "feels important too cause you can win a trophy"

I'm going to include it as I have done before and as far as I'm aware, when a player's goals and appearances for a club are tallied up ones made in the Community Shield are still counted. I don't consider it a trophy worth celebrating beyond the afternoon that we win it but it's still a competitive game.
