The signings we've made in the backroom point out to who Gazidis has chosen to replace Arsene. It seems a sound choice

Allegri.

Nah, honestly, Nagelsmann is likely aware of these people more, plays our type of football, and looking good. If Bayern don't take him, long term replacement

Sims, what makes you think that we'd sack Wenger in the summer?

theres only two possible options

1) he steps down
2) he signs a contract extension

there is no inbetween

gazidis (and even sir chips) wanted wenger to leave in the summer. we've made about 15 changes to our playing & non-playing staff within the space of about a year, all without the true approval of wenger. only compromise he got was that gerry peyton & the old guard stayed on the coaching team.

afc is about to be run by ivan gazidis, these are all his appointments, all to take the power away from wenger. Gazidis will be the face of the club by July and i have no reason to believe otherwise, i think another poor season by Arsene will cause him to step down

The funny thing in all this is that Wenger's position has been weakened because he dropped out of top 4, which only happened because he lost 2 points in his pride not buying a defender and losing 4-3 to Liverpool on Day 1

If what you say is true, why did Wenger sign the extension? Gazidis handpicked all those additions. He was harping about catalyst of change. He wanted a DoF and we most likely got one.

Wenger has always been a control freak. Why did he sign on despite Gazidis undermining him?

So...Why do you think Wenger won't sign a new contract?

because kroenke gave him it. wenger is still reluctant to give up the throne but seeing as this is possibly the worst ive ever seen arsenal on this planet i think even he knows that its time to relinquish his power

it was a power struggle during the summer, esp between gazidis and arsene. if gazidis had any pride he wouldve left the club as soon as wenger signed the extension, but he's been playing the long game for years and clearly stuck his heels in. sanellhi was the final nail in the coffin for arsene's long term future as far as im concerned

this is the worst he's ever been
he's not stupid and knows all of the appointments behind the scenes are an effort to get him out
i dont think he'll even have the support of kroenke, the only one who wants to keep him at the top, come the end of the season

Just before the season ended, Wenger said that he'd never have a DOF. In fact, this was what he said:

"No, director of football, I don't know what it means," Wenger said at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Southampton on Wednesday. "Is it someone who stands on the road and directs the players left and right? I never understand what it means, director of football."

He got the new contract, but Wenger's power that used to control everything is now so weak that we've hired a Director of Football. That's barely 6 months after that, which is the most public humiliation a manager could have thrust upon them.
