Which I think is what made him stick with the f***er so long.

Also between him and Lehmann they cost us that CL, will always be mad about that.

One of AW's greatest faults imo.

Lehmann was goat
Szczesny woulda been fine if his dad wasn't so involved and he actually had a decent mentor/coach here.
Ospina was a decent buy for a backup

Really he inherited Seaman, moved on spectacularly well to Lehmann. Then came the Almunia blunder era which I would criticise him for.

Since then I think we've had good prospects and at least tried to get good keepers but, I think pre-2015, keepers were far less important than they are now, if you were good enough you could have a decent goalkeeper and win it all (see Barcelona with Valdes) . Nowadays the keeper is practically a sweeper/ball playing cb who starts all the moves and is vital for the top teams way of playing, hence Leno.

Lehman was GOAT but we only signed him becuase he was free

Szczesny was too young and had too much to learn in our first team. We sold him at the time he was coming into his prime. He now plays for the Italian goats and we could never afford to bring him back.

Ospina was a good back up but nowhere near what we needed at the time.

Almunia was worse than ospina and even less appropriate.

19m and we've instantly bagged a keeper now that would have served us amazingly in the post Lehmann years (the calibre of keeper, not Leno as a kid back then).

Richard Wright - ffs

Gerry Payton destroying careers for a whole era was criminal

All in all, Wenger was terrible at presiding over the goal keeping department.

Lehmann was far from goat !! He was a mad man that lost his head far too often. Certainly the best keeper Wenger signed but was average aerially and complained non stop if any opposing player had the audacity to touch him.

I was in the front row Vs Brighton. Got there early and watched the warm up. Didn't recognise any of the coaches except Bould, who was only out briefly

Arsenal are considering making former midfielder Edu their new director of football. The Brazilian retired in 2010. (Standard)
