Four at the back is good as long as it's not Wenger's favorite 4-2-3-1 or worse, last season's 4-4-1-1.

4-3-3. Fin.

this 5-2-3/3-4-3 (whatever u want to call it) is infuriating me, there's such little creativity from it and we still look a shambles at the back. We don't have the ball playing CB's for it when Mustafi is out, and he's been poor so far this season anyway.

There's really no benefit and we need the 3 in midfield instead because our CM's have been shocking. Even today I counted at least 5 times where both Xhaka and Ramsey were on the Swansea 18 yard box meaning if we lose the ball n they break we are screwed.

4-1-2-1-2 or 4-3-3 is needed in my view, would make the midfield much better and if we have an actual DM...even Coquelin level...then we'd not need the third CB.

Cech
Bellerin - Koscielny - Nacho/Musti - Kolasinac
???
Xhaka - Ramsey
Özil - Lacazette - Alexis

would be much better than this stupid system. We need to pack the midfield cause its our weakest area

everyone is seeing it bar Wenger.

I would want to try Chambers in the missing position. I know he has some flaws, but he can intercept well and is good on the ball.
Bielik could also grow into this position. I think both could potentially offer more than Neny or Coquelin.

still think it's time to bin the 3-4-3 as our main tactic, keep it for tough away games where we're likely to counter.

4-3-3 for the majority, can try Wilsh-Xhaka-Ramsey or throw Coq/Elneny in there for some solidity.

Formation and personnel - with the right personnel any formation can be brilliant. With the right formation any personnel can make it work. It goes both ways. This is the reason why no one formation is better than another because it all comes down to personnel and the tactics/implementation of that formation.

Arsenal's problem is a simple one, inconsistent performers. Its why we can be sublime sometimes and dog shit for most of the rest of the time. Instead of having one great CM we have 2 half CMs. That puts us a man down on the pitch. You then have to supplement that by playing others out of positions or in roles they do not excel in.

needs a very skillful defensive mid and this can work.

Also we need to seriously look into replacing Cech or maybe changing him into a number 2.

Part of the problem is the players Wenger's using in the formation. The other part of course is actually teaching the players how to play the formation.

You only have to look at teams that have had success with the formation to see why it looks awkward with us.

Chelsea last season:

Azpili --- Luiz --- Cahill
Kante Matic

Sp*rs last season:

Dier -- Alde'ld --- Vert'en
Wanyama Dembele

Us today:

Kos --- Per --- Nacho
Xhaka Ramsey

No midfield presence and a backline that doesn't really strike fear into any opposition
Ramsdale
(Turner/Hein)
White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
(Tomiyasu/Niles) (Timber/Holding) (Trusty/Kiwior) (Tierney/Tavares)
Odegaard(c) —- Rice
(Xhaka/Lokonga) —- (Partey/Elneny)
Havertz
(Jorginho/Vieira)
Saka Jesus Martinelli
(Pepe/Nelson) (Nketiah/Balogun) (Trossard/ESR)
