Btw I don't care if we lose Ozil and Alexis for free next summer, if Wilshere leaves, or if we end up making Ramsey our highest earner and Danny our second highest. As long as Wenger is here, nothing and nobody can save Arsenal.

In fact, part of me WANTS to see the following line up:

Cech
Koscielny - Mustafi - Monreal
Bellerin - Xhaka - Ramsey - Kolasinac
Welbeck ------------------- Iwobi
Lacazette

That line up is so average it's scary.

The window before players enters their final year of their contract is the latest renewals should be happening. In other words the following players should have their contracts settled this window imo:

Arsenal contracts expiring soon:

2018:
Alexis
Özil
Wilshere
Cazorla
Mertesacker

2019:
Wenger
Cech
Ospina
Debuchy
Monreal
Ramsey
Nelson
Reine-Adelaide
Welbeck
Giroud
Akpom

What I’d do:

2018:
Alexis - renew (if it was still possible)
Özil - renew (if it’s still possible)
Wilshere - renew (pay-as-you-play type deal)
Cazorla - renew (pay-as-you-play type deal)
Mertesacker - not renew

2019:
Wenger - not renew
Cech - not renew
Ospina - not renew
Debuchy - not renew
Monreal - renew
Ramsey - renew
Nelson - renew
Reine-Adelaide - renew (but not fussed either way)
Welbeck - not renew
Giroud - not renew
Akpom - not renew
Ramsdale
(Turner/Hein)
White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
(Tomiyasu/Niles) (Timber/Holding) (Trusty/Kiwior) (Tierney/Tavares)
Odegaard(c) —- Rice
(Xhaka/Lokonga) —- (Partey/Elneny)
Havertz
(Jorginho/Vieira)
Saka Jesus Martinelli
(Pepe/Nelson) (Nketiah/Balogun) (Trossard/ESR)

Now that Sanchez is signing for united Ramseys contract is most important piece of business should be one our highest earners and given the armband, love him or hate him the statistics prove that we are a better team with him in the side and that he's been a key part to our recent success these past few years.

Also now that the likes Szczesny and Walcott are off our books who were both stealing a living we can easily afford to give Ramsey a good pay rise.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if you could argue we're better with him, we're still not good enough with him and he's part of the reason.

Not his fault that Xhaka is slow and can't put in challenge or dribble

Not his fault Ozil doesn't put in effort against the big sides

Not his fault Sanchez doesn't bother to put in a effort these days

Not his fault is struggling to adapt (especially without Ramsey who's assisted most of his goals)

Not his fault that our defence is shit

Only so much one man can do to improve a team but Ramsey of far from our real problems, you watch come 2018 this time of the year the likes of Klopp, Pep and Mourinho, Conte or whoever is in charge of those sides will be sniffing around if he doesn't sign a new deal and if he joins them with the right coaching you'll see a world class Ramsey.

Aww you still have hope for your boy cute, then again I suppose no one has shown an interest in him which shows just how 'world class' he is.

You're right none of that is his fault, neither is being an average footballer his fault either. You're born with exceptional football talent and he wasn't.

We're very quickly going full circle with the contracts fiasco. Players with 2 years left on their deals that we intend to keep we need to be renewing ASAP or moving them on.

Contracts expiring within the next 3 years:

2021:
- Auba
- Mustafi
- Ozil
- Sokratis
- Luiz
- Balogun

2022:
- Laca
- Martinez
- Guendouzi
- Kola
- Nketiah
- Chambers
- Elneny

2023:
- Leno
- Smith-Rowe
- Torreira
- Xhaka
- Nelson
- Niles
- Holding
- Willock
- Willian

The reason players are running down their contracts is because they have higher aspirations than playing for a mid-table club.
