Saka isn't on £100k why in the world would Eddie be? I think this rumour is a windup.

5 year deal is bad enough as it is.

Well we had three strikers until recently, and now we can have 0. To buy at least two you'll need over 100 mil and on top of that no guarantees that they'll pan out( settle here), like Lukaku or Morata and others
Nikh is young, has been around first team for a while, and started to score goals, so at least you've somebody. Now you can go all out and spend 50-60 mil for a first choice striker. This is just to ward of uncertainties.
A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
If Nikh goes to another Prem team he'll get 70-80 k/ wk anyway, so they promised a little more to keep him. That's basically it.

Eddie is a mid-table striker, we are Arsenal football club that should have ambitions to not only eat from the top table, but to devour the food at the top table !

Eddie is a tap-in merchant, we need better than that.

Can't see him being on £100k after all the effort to cut the wage bill.

Just curious, where do you find this listed?

May not be 100% accurate but it's a decent indication. Most seemed to stack up with what was reported elsewhere too.

10 goals in 59 PL appearances. Appreciate a lot of these would have been bench appearances but that doesn't really fill me with confidence.

I can't remember many goals that haven't been taps ins or mistakes from the opposition. This season alone the two Chelsea goals were very fluky as was the one where he chased down the GK. I can't remember his other 2 goals. But you get the point. Eddie isn't a player that is going to work a goal out of nothing.

Here's hoping we are wrong and he develops next season - but i just don't see it.

Eddie isn't the kind of striker that will score Auba/Pepe/Aguero type goals, he will score you the Gary Lineker type goals.

The whole reason Nketiah has rejected 3 offers is because he doesn't want to play second fiddle.

What was the point of cutting half the team if we still have mediocre players on big money sitting on the bench?

Firstly, when you go four seasons outside the CL and are managed by a rookie, you're not eating at any top table. We are mid table. WIthout the CL revenue it's going to be hard getting two strikers. The money isnt there and you cant convince one to play second fiddle behind the other. Eddie comes with no transfer fee, will play second fiddle to Jesus and can get goals. If set up right he can be a good ol bagsman.

We knew all this going into the season. We had benched Auba in December and sold him in January, which escalated our need for a striker. So why did Arteta wait until April to see if Eddie is good enough for the Prem? It's a short period to really assess a player and especially one that has ran down his contract. Any player can have a really good run of form for a couple of months. Look at Joe Willock. We've left ourselves with a bit of a mess and I can't understand why we weren't looking at our internal options sooner.

I agree with you, really not the level of player we need.

We need 2 decent strikers, even as a 2nd striker he’s not good enough.

Once upon a time we had Bergkamp, Henry, Kanu and Wiltord, now we gave Nketiah and someone else.

Not exactly inspiring, especially given our problems with goals.

Plus if the money being talked about is real that’s unbelievable figures.
