What do we do with Nketiah? He’s a prolific scorer no doubt and on that basis alone we should be excited about him. But can the modern game allow the 9 to simply be a poacher and not a contributor to build up play?

I like the Kid. Eddie should gain some weight and muscle to be stronger and more balanced.. His positional sense, when being against the ball, is very good.

He'll be fine here. We create plenty of chances, even with our non-existent midfield. Him and Saka look like they link up well. As long as his finishing stays strong, he can be a decent replacement for Laca.

Nah his physical size is fine, Wrighty wasn't exactly an ox, Nketiah's natural intelligence of movement and positioning is far more important than his size/stature.

I’m not talking about size and stature. He’s no smaller than Messi or Aguero. I’m talking about being more than a box poacher. Does today’s game allow the 9 to simply be a box player or does he need to do more in the build up of the attack? That’s the part I seem to be missing with Nketiah.

^^^ I was talking to Messiah

But in answer to your post, Yes, Nketiah can thrive in the modern game. As always with these things, play to a player's strengths. If you are not going to use him to hold up the ball - and you wouldn't - you play to his obvious strengths which would be over the top into space, or get the ball in from wide positions. He got a professional Arsenal contract on the basis of his current strengths, I see no reason for him to change.

He's a different option and that's exactly what every successful team needs.

We've launched an appeal on the grounds of a 'wrongful decision, as well as excessive punishment'.

The FA are expected to make a decision by the end of the week.

can't see us winning that, imagine the FA admitting they were wrong.

Gibbs red card at chelsea in 2014 was overturned
As was Gabriel's in 2015
Elneny had a red card overturned last season as well at home to Southampton

Thanks for the information.

As I said, can't see us winning the appeal. As you said yourself, you can see why it was given but in my view it was still wrong for the other reasons you listed in the matchday thread. FA won't admit it though.

I knew it was going to be a red, if they have a chance to give us a red you better believe they will. I don't follow the Arsenal conspiracy theories but I do believe, if they have a choice when it comes to Arsenal, they will go for the harder punishment.
