Crystal Palace were hopeful of signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, 22, but could not agree personal terms with the England Under-21 international, who will remain at the Emirates. (Star)

Seems like it's all about the money rather than playing for him

Yeah typical modern footballer by the sounds of it. If he wanted to play he would have left, he prefers to sit it out and leave for free for a big pay day next summer.

Compare that to the attitude of AMN who just wants to play. Yet we alienate the player that wants to play and do nothing with the money lover

Exactly credit to AMN for choosing playing over money. He’s been messed about something chronic by us, he’s gone from England international to barely ever playing.

I can never understand the footballers happy to sit it out on the bench. Really nuts for Nketiah to turn down a deal. Did we agree a fee but the deal fell through because Nketiah couldn't agree personal terms? Very strange since he would have been starting way more games for Palace. At least he hasn't got that long to go until his deal runs out.

Thing is if he believes in himself then a year playing will help him a lot more than a year not playing, both in terms of his game but also the amount of money he can command in future.

We wanted to get rid of him, best thing he could have done was go, playing should be the most important thing for a footballer and Palace is in London anyway so it’s not like he bad to relocate.

It sounds like it’s all about the money, he’s rather sit there for a year and not play and then go for free and get more money, not good at all.

Maybe Nketiah call fill in at CM when we sell Elneny and have injuries, I'm sure he'll be happy to play anywhere for the team the good lad.

Does he "play" for Arsenal though lol.

I mean, it's more like he just pops up now and again. :dontknow:

Hopefully if he does it will be in the reserves, don’t want to see him in the 1st team, firstly he’s rubbish, secondly turning down Palace and regular football is a shocker.

It's odd to see from a young player. Playing should be the priority at his age. Heck, that should apply to any player which was one of my criticisms of Ozil wasting a year. We'll see where he ends up but considering Palace want to play attacking football, I would have thought it would have been a good choice of Nketiah.

Nice backheel in front of 50k at the Emirates. Shame he and Balogun are wasting away on the bench. Europa group stage games would have been good opportunities for them to stay involved.

It was fantastic improvisation from Nketiah
Overall his movement was shocking
Lacazette was working the defence all the time
Eddie was static and throwing his hands up everytime the ball didn’t reach him
