Cech
Sagna Mertersacker (c) Koscielny Monreal
Torreira Cazorla
Nasri --- Cesc --- Alexis
RVP

Subs: Leno, Toure, Sorakis, Ramsey, Rosicky, Ozil, Aubameyang

Mentions to: Ospina Lacazette, Arshavin, Song, Coquelin, Clichy, Flamini, Walcott, Podolski, Giroud and Wilshere

Hmm notice how the majority of our best players where all midfielders and attackers. Our defence has been pure poverty. I put Torerria there because we really have never had a proper consistent DM whatsoever. Coquelin was decent for a while but it's really been so shit defensively for so so long.

Best player was Alexis for me followed closely by Judas. Wierd how I still hate RVP but I have no hate whatsoever for Alexis.

The complete opposite

Can’t stand the dog nonce but still love van Persie

For me it’s no contest as to who was a better footballer

Van Persie was better of course although Alexis was class every year he was with us whereas RVP was injured for so many games bar 11/12 season.

Thats why the hate was so strong, the one season he was fit he was class then f***ked off straight away. Alexis going was understandable since he fell out with most of the team and was frustrated with the teams lack of a winning mentallity.

I could understand why RVP left too. He only had a few good years left of football in him. At 29 years old he had no major trophies to his name, watched as the manager and Board sold the players he grew up with, the best players, they refused to reinvest and were putting out the feelers to the press that they wouldn't be able to match the sort of wages RVP could earn at a rival club. I don't think we even offered him a contract. Before he left, he said he spoke with Gazidis and Wenger and they couldn't reassure him of the direction of the club. I remember before he had signed his last contract, he was repeating what Henry was saying before he left. He wanted the club to match his sporting ambition. He didn't. He still haven't.

I really can't blame RVP for leaving. In the sort of form he was in, it would have been an incredible waste to see such talent end his career without a major trophy. It sucks that it had to be at Man Utd but he knew that it could end at any moment. He didn't have time to waste. Approaching 30, in the form of his life but also a bad record when it comes to injuries. It pissed me off so much to see the club not build around such talent and instead just lump more of the burden on players that needed more support around them and not carry the team each week.

Why doesn’t anyone rate Alex Song? I seem to be the only one that rated him highly as a DM?

I really enjoyed most of his performances.

Song and Flamini were both good but the lack of a top DM (Petit and Gilberto are the benchmarks) has been evident for years.

Why do people hate Sanchez, played his heart out, turned up in big games and led is to trophies.

Flamini was very energetic, ran around a lot and did a good job. Song was a super cool player who would read what an oppo player was going to do and was therefore so difficult to get past. For me he was head and shoulders better than Flamini.

He was great sitting in front of the back four acting like a third centre back. Then Wenger tried to get him to be more of a playmaker and it all went wrong.
