If he's staying this season surely we offer him an extension ?

Makes no sense to give him game time and then risk losing him for free next year or being forced to give him a bumper contract ...

We might get to see a front four of:

Nketiah
Nelson-Smith Rowe-Saka
Raya/Ramsdale
White/Tomiyasu--Saliba/Timber--Gabriel/Kiwior--???/Zinchenko
???/Jorginho
Odegaard/Smith Rowe----Rice/???
Saka/Jesus-------------------Martinelli/Trossard
???/Havertz

We have had loads of them ... being good in the academy is no guarantee that you will even become a first teamer, let alone a good first teamer.

I agree but then we go out and buy Tavares and Lokonga and I wonder what they’ve done to be given a chance over our academy prospects.

Bit surprised he didn't start. The decision to bring on Saka ahead of him was an odd one too.

Hope he gets more minutes next time. Looked lively albeit over keen which is understandable when you only have 10 minutes to impress.

He played better than Marquinhos and Saka with less minutes.

He had some bright moments. I hope he does well because we are short on wingers.

Yes, its normal but you have to be careful you dont let go of them so easily so quickly as the filth have found out with Marcs Edwards.

Since they are so young and teenagers they have tons of bad habits and flaws in the beginning, its important to work with them if they have talent to get all that out of them. Edwards has matured a lot in Portugal and now looks a real player! Nelson is no less talented than him but we still have in on the books at least and still has plenty of time to come really good, needs to build from this game whenever he gets a chance.

Need to make a decision in January. I can't see him leaving if we give him the option to stay though. Seems like he sees his future here in an ideal world.

Just needs game time. And not 5-10 minute cameos.

Easy to forget this kid was the biggest talent in the academy since Gnbary (ahead of Saka and ESR).

If he can stay injury free and we give him minutes he could still fulfil his potential. Still only 22.

We financially won’t be able to satisfy Martinelli and Saka. So better keep Nelson as the successor to one of them. Probably Martinelli.
