Better off somewhere where the manager rated him rather than wasting his time here where he won’t get a chance.

He hasn't impressed in the games he's played.

Maybe needs to go out on loan and see if he can improve.

He's staying according to Fabrizio. I hope he gets some game time soon at least be ahead of Willian in the pecking order

Yup.

Due to his age, Willian's value will only plummet further, regardless of performance. In Nelson's case, however, we have value to protect—with the possibility of even increasing it ahead of a potential future sale.

Glad he’s staying, has potential, whether he gets game time is another matter, manager doesn’t seem to want to give him a chance.

Regards the little clutch of academy players that have come through, if we wind things back a couple of seasons, Reiss Nelson is the one that would have gotten the majority of votes for the most likely to crack the first team and establish themselves ahead of the others. Or put more simply, he was the one expected to do what Saka has done.

That this young man is blessed with a high degree of natural ability is not in question to me.

However, where doubts have started to creep in is with regards to him having the mental fortitude to make that next step up like Saka, who in all fairness has already taken two more further steps forward than his mate.

The mentality of a 16 year old Wayne Rooney was the foundation stone of his becoming the superstar top scorer for United and England, not his technical ability, that was secondary, and pretty much the same could be said about Alan Shearer.

If Nelson is struggling with that requirement, then maybe being told that HE has become surplus to requirements and the team containing two of his best friends was moving onwards and upwards without him might be the motivating factor he needs to apply himself correctly and at least fulfill his potential even if it has to be elsewhere.

Why is he playing U-23 football again and Willian is playing for the first team?

Yes he can. Sokratis played PL2 games with them earlier this season. That's where Willian should be playing next season.

You can't for an extended period of time.

Are you sure?

Each team can field a goalkeeper over the age limit and up to three "over-age" outfield players in every match

There's a limit. Check clause 4.5.b.

There is no such clause in the Premier League 2 Handbook. :dontknow:

Nelson should leave for the sake of his career, this is the second time now Arteta has decided to put a second goalkeeper on the bench over him, even so let’s be honest even with Nelson on the bench Willian still comes on over him.

It’s things like this where a few years down the line Nelson manages to become a good/world class player for another team, we end up forking out 50M+ on a winger from some farmers league which could be a hit or miss, leaving us with less funds for another position.

For a club which is suppose to be self sustainable we really do a poor Job of it these days.

The players in the European squad that don't play are all named in the squad barring injury

Every team that played named 2 keepers
