With our current players don’t you think this would make sense for us?

Auba/Martinelli - Laca - Saka/Pepe
Odegard
ESR —— Partey
Elneny
Gabriel - Luiz - Chambers
Leno

Don’t ignore this post because I need feedback. Thanks.

Edited for you

You want El Neny to play the guardiola metronome position? You mad?

Absolutely yes, he is the best we have to just sit there and screen, he is not slow as f**k, can tackle ok, has a bit of energy, very rarely loses the ball or gives the ball away. ticks all the boxes apart from strength, he isn't a beast, but probably doesn't need to be one.

No scenario has Xhaka starting ahead of Elneny in my book, Partey can do far more than just screen, Ceballos is not as dependable as Elneny.

Name a player we have better suited to the role than Elneny.

Maybe Bellerin will stay or Cedric will be first choice or even Chambers will hold on to his place?

Maybe Xhaka or Elneny will take one of the CM spots. Maybe Azeez will get a chance, or will he be more of a winger/CAM?

Maybe Odegaard will stay.

Maybe one or both of Auba/Laca will stay. Maybe Balogun will step up?

There are a lot of positions up for grabs and it will be fascinating to see our squad when the summer window shuts.

To be honest seeing this lot as the future is pretty exciting:

Martinelli - Striker - Saka
ESR - Odegaard
Partey

I could get behind that easily.

Needs a solid defence.
Right now we have Tierney. Possibly Gabriel.
I don't see any others that are good enough.
I also don't see anyone in the squad behind those players who are good enough.

If you include Gabriel and Tierney + the 4 you mentioned not Odegaard as he is going to be too expensive for what he can deliver) we have 6 players in the entire squad who look good enough.

In the near term we should try ESR at 8. We need more creativity and drive from deeper in midfield. We are too slow turning the ball over. Just too damn slow through the lines. It is very easy for the opposition to regroup against us. I would play this formation of available players until we can buy in the summer.

Martinelli- Laca - Willian
Saka
ESR - Partey

This season has been a disaster like no other. A novice at wheels directing a bunch of overgrown morons. Expected outcome!

We created nothing, but in the first half I didn't think we played badly, we just created very little, had some snap shots but largely nada

Final ball in the first half was dreadful - especially Pepe, whose crossing was abysmal.
We had openings, with Nketiah linking well.
But in the second half Nketiah was visibly tiring.

Saka and ESR had off days.

Way too much sideways and backwards passing.

It's just poor. PLayers seem to be going through the motions.

First time we've lost 9 home games since 1930.

Breaking records, left right.

We've lost our way a bit and need to change something. Maybe go back to the 3-4-3 that we ended last season with?
