1. Transition play in midfield
We are not able to release the ball quickly when in possession. Partey, El N, Lokonga all like to carry the ball out and lay it off and are slow. We are not able to launch effective counter attacks or even build quickly.

2. Poor link up play in the box
Our forwards have poor link up play and are not able to pick each other out. This is not a personnel issue but a coaching issue.

This goal shows you what we are missing. Look at how fast we move the ball from back to front. Would never happen today.

There's only two thing holding us back.

PEA and Xhaka

They get dumped, Arsenal improve.

Tactics are utterly irrelevant when these two continue to take up a first 11 place. We're playing with 10 (or 9 when both are wheeled out on the same team) when they're part of the team.

It’s all irrelevant whilst Arteta is in charge. We could have Man City or Liverpool’s team but they’d still look like a bunch of amateurs that can barely kick a ball.

Basically apart from Leicester we beat some relegation candidates and a couple teams that were so bad they had to change their manager, most of those wins were very tight as well.

We should set up like Juventus in 14/15 under Allegri, it would suit most of our current players imo
It’s not a perfect system but It’s ideal as it covers for a lot of players flaws, that Juventus squad was pretty average bar a few players, this system took them far they would have won the CL had they faced any other team than Barcelona that season

————-———Ramsdale—————-
Tomiyasu—White—Gabriel—Tierney

——————-—Xhaka———————

———-Niles——————Saka———

——————-—ESR————————

——--Lacazette———-Aubameyang—-

ESR in the hole which would be prefect for his late runs into the box and plenty of options for link up play, Niles and Saka as B2B CMs, who can provide Xhaka the defensive support he needs, they can also drop back into fullback positions to cover or even provide some width if need be.

The CMs remain a worry as seen even today against Soton for first 20-25 mins. A midfield of Partey and Xhaka fills one w/ trepidation every moment.
Need to buy a quality midfielder ASAP , or at least play a DM ( makeshift one in Mari or even White) to shore up the deep defense and bring out the ball securely from the back.
With the current two, disaster can strike anytime. Can't expect Ramsdale to bail us out upteenth times.

Yes. A top class midfielder to play with Lokonga is needed

Some pretty poor finishing.
We're clicking now though - even including those first 3 games we're easily in the top 4 most creative teams in the league
If our finishing gets better we'll be scoring a lot of goals.
