We also scored in December more in any single month since 1963.
Another ‘record’
That one was achieved as soon as we dropped Aubameyang.

The problem is blindingly obvious - if we play as a defensive team we don't have the front three to score goals - if we play as an attacking team we don't have the midfield three to maintain control ....

Defensive team can't consistently beat 'park-the-bus' tactics - Attacking team can't consistently beat the top six.

The issue is just a lack of quality - we need another top class CB - another top class DCM - another top class 1/2 strikers .... but then who, apart from the rich kids, doesn't?

Hopefully the other top class CB returns from loan in the summer. Maybe Arthur finds his feet with us and is the other top class CDM. Then we just need to sort the strikers.

Few things represent Arteta's Arsenal better than "22 goals in December to 1 goal in January"

It's the TICTACS.

That doesn't seem like the problem to me, the problem to me is Arteta's poor decisions.

Who can tell me that our midfield wouldn't be much improved if we had more Torreira and Guendouzi and less Xhaka and Lokonga (the latter of which will probably turn into a very good player but isn't currently at the last level we saw of Guendouzi in an Arsenal shirt).

Torreira can control the middle in a holding role, FFS he did it perfectly well in Arteta's first season.

Photos of Wilshire training ardently in Dubai show up on Arsenal site.
Any chance he might play a role in our midfield the remainder of the season?

Seeing as our squad is so thin in numbers now and at some point players are likely to get injuries/fatigue/covid, it’s time we bring a few academy players into the fold the main ones being Azeez, Hutchinson and John-Jules.

Let’s give one or two them a couple of minutes at the end of each game every now and again, better to build the confidence up instead of throwing in them into the deep end if it gets to that, I’d rather play the youngsters than having to play like Tavares LW, ESR false nine and Odeegard as a DM.

If our situation gets thats bad, that’s exactly what Arteta is going to do even though we’ve seen how bad they’re in those positions, hopefully I’m wrong and he decided to give one of them a go, it may save us money in the summer if they exceed expectations.
