One might argue he does more goal saving defending because he is the cause of it in the first place !

But a decent performance from him yesterday.

Great yesterday. Still prefer Sokratis and Holding though

meh he is better than holding. We have been here for years....our fans overrating the english players. We simply dont judge young english players the same way we judge older foreigners. as of today Mustafi is clearly the better defender. But after the years of overhyping english players, we still havent learned. I think we can be honest and say the whole english chore we had were failed project

Holding has had 2 seasons at the top, of course mustafi is better.

The point is he's 21 and doesn't look out of place in the first team for the most part. He's anything but average and he's been proving that this season.

If you want to ignore his performances go ahead, most other people won't.

He is 23 not 21. Secondly he had a very good game. Overall I dont think he has the physical tools to be top defender. But Im not stupid enough to think I can speak sense to arsenal fans who get carried away after a young player has a great game. Just few months ago we were here with chambers

Too clumsy to be a CB. But he has good aerial ability and not slow. Would be a useful RB, A bit like Gary Neville, some simple crossings, not slow, good tackles. Just stay away from the penalty box.

He will be a world class CB. Just goes to show what an excellent team Wenger has left for Emery, despite little backing

I think as of today he is the best CB at the club and I have no doubt he is Emerys nr 1

Gooney Holding has been performing brilliantly in the past few games, he has made far less mistakes than the far more experienced Mustafi!!

Not saying Holding is better, but saying Mustafi has not been as good as Holding during the same period Holding has been getting a run out.

Once again, his performance against Liverpool highlighted the fact that the guy does have the ability to be a top drawer defender.

If the argument is then gonna be that he is not top top quality, the likes of which has Real Madrid and Barcelona doing their mafia impersonations with offers you can't refuse, he is then still good enough to strut his stuff for us.

That his time at Arsenal has been dominated by average and below par performances is not in question, but it is these intermittent really good performances that then leave you scratching your head wondering what the f**k is going on with this fella.

A touch of bi polar maybe, or full blown split personality disorder akin to Golum/Smeegle, who knows, but he needs to start making his performances against Fulham and Liverpool his stock in trade now.

For everything that he brings, Sokratis is our best central defender without doubt. Holding has all but transformed himself to the point of having plastic surgeons asking him for advice, whilst Mavropanos has the potential to be the real deal befitting that top top tag.

So, when all our centre backs are available again, a couple of dips into that below par bin (no pun intended scousers) could see Mustafi shoved to the back of a five man queue for two places.

There's absolutely no doubt he is a top defender......when he's fully focussed. It's those odd moments when he loses concentration and does something stoopid that have dragged down his reputation. The last few games have shown few lapses of concentration, so maybe its something that Emery is working with him on. :dontknow:

Sometimes wonder whether him and David Luiz are brothers.
