Shkodran Mustafi

Chelsea are considering Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi after being rebuffed in their bid for Leonardo Bonucci.

The 24-year-old centre-back was released by Everton manager David Moyes in 2012 but has since gone on to great success, winning the World Cup in 2014 and establishing himself as one of La Liga’s finest defenders.

A German international, Mustafi was considered by Barcelona before the Spanish champions instead signed Lyon’s Samuel Umtiti this summer.

Despite struggling for cash after a disastrous season saw them miss out on European football, Valencia are determined to hold on to their prized midfielder, and now realise that they may need to sell Mustafi in order to be able to rebuff further offers for Gomes.

Mustafi would be expected to fetch north of £25million in the current market, and at 24 years of age would provide Chelsea with a longer-term alternative to Juventus’ Bonucci, who has no desire to push for an exit from the Italian champions.

Sorce: Mirror

We should get him. Would rather pay £25m for him than the reported £37.6m for Manolas

YES PLEASE!

Mobile, good positional sense, good size, and good in air on defense and set pieces on offense.

German and a regular inclusion in national team, so it goes without saying he is disciplined.

He is physical, mobile, and is good in air.

If this was an issue he wouldnt be selected for German national team.

He played against Ukraine in Euros and looked very good.

I would love someone like koulibaly but I would be happy with Mustafi as well.

As long as they've got a good leap it doesn't matter

Mertesacker is a perfect example, about 10 ft tall but can only jump about 3 cm which makes him more vulnerable in the air than Kos is for example

Oh yeah, his height isn't a problem because he can jump high...

If he reaches a higher height than Mertesacker does in the air, which he probably does, then it's not an issue

Idk why you even like Mertesacker he is every characteristic you hate apart from being tall. He is weak and a general pussy
