I rescind my criticism of him being deadwood. It seems to be like a Koscielny situation where he didn't look as good next to Vermaelen as he did partnered with the BFG.

It is easier to play as a CB when opposition's players don't run straight at you every single minute.

Tbf I think maybe playing next to Holding who isn't clowning around shouting and rolling around on the floor like he got shot like Sokratis is doing in the first team is having a calming effect on Mustafi.

He has been playing well, in fact the entire 2nd string is playing worldie football (except AMN), hungry, aggressive and not in the state our first team is in.

Just glad we didn't let him go, we need him even as a backup and he's doing good. If the crowd would get off his back for every little mistake he might actually be a decent player again, would like to see him get some PL starts next to Bobby.

Nah. I'm sorry, but I don't think i can muster a Mustafi redemption arc. Can we just get rid of him, please? Even if he has a purple patch he will go full r***rd sooner or later and derail our season. Just get rid.

Yeah that's a good point, tbf. If Holding gets injured again we're finished.

Maybe we should just pair Mustafi and David Luiz and they somehow cancel each other out. AMN at RB and Kolasinac at LB as well. If you put 4 bricks together maybe you get a wall.

He is a good option to have for the majority of a EFL or EL campaign. He'll still need to stay strong once we start facing top level opposition in those tournaments.

Glad that he's playing a role for us instead of sulking for not being in the PL lineup.

He deserves praise for kinda stepping up so far this season. If he kept playing like this, we might be able to sell him in the winter for 20m maybe.

I'm still thinking he's too much like Xhaka. Some brilliant moments followed by total brain farts.

And we have too many CBs anyway.
Papa, Luiz, Holding, Chambers, Mustafi, Mavropanos and Medley.

We can easily get rid of him without any suffering.

Glad we kept him in the end so he can play in these types of fixtures

I feel the same for Xhaka.

Mustafi actually has technique and quality but is constantly undone by his stupid moments and mistakes.

Xhaka, in contrast, doesn't offer what Mustafi is capable of offering because Xhaka is a very limited player.

Bring it on, the Mustafi redemption arc. :arse flag.gif:

I wanted to see him leave in the summer but am pleased with how he's applied himself in his games this season. I think it's foolhardy to call for him to be considered for Premier League games as I've not forgotten how terrible he was these past couple of years, but if he can keep doing his job as a squad player this year then it's good for the club and for him.

Also, for the record, I think when everyone's fit my hierachy for the centre-backs would be:

1. Holding
2. Luiz
3. Chambers
4. Sokratis
5. Mustafi
6. Mavropanos

Form-dependant, of course.

I agree with everything but Luiz above both Chambers and Sokratis?
Change the positions of Luiz and Sokratis and you got it
Wembley:
Community Shield @6-8-'23 = 1*-1 Manchester City

Emirates Stadium:
First game @10-9-'11 = 1 - 0 Swansea
Most memorable game @24-2-'22 = 2 - 1 Wolves
Last game @14-04-'24 = 0 - 2 Aston Villa
Next game @4-05-'24 = VS Bournemouth [ No ticket yet ]
