Arsenal ladies

Postby BexleyGooner » Sat May 14, 2016 11:05 pm

I may have missed it, but there doesn't seem to be a single thread congratulating the Arsenal women in their victory over Chelsea today in the FA cup final.

If we talk constantly about the bunch of doughnuts we calls the mens team, surely the successes of the womens team should be mentioned.

Congratulations to them. Its their club as well and they are one of the best women's teams in Europe. They're a credit to the club.

Cheers to them. Watched a few games this season but missed the cup game. Some very talented players.

was at the cup final a couple of years back when the final was in doncaster (lol), enjoyed it a lot! Has to be said that the standard of play was absolute tosh, so I can only hope it is slowly getting a bit better.
Maybe they need to play on smaller pitches? the lack of physicality massively hurts the entertainment value of it, kind of like watching 12 year olds on a full size pitch.

Arsenal Ladies’ Alex Scott scores calamitous 40-yard own goal vs Chelsea

Arsenal Ladies star Alex Scott had her very own Lee Dixon-style calamity over the weekend as she scored a 40-yard own goal.

The right-back gave opponents Chelsea the lead in an FA Women’s Super League tie after her back pass went straight past goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal and nestled in the back of the net.

The calamity happened in the 8th minute of the match, giving the Gunners plenty of time to get themselves back into the game.

They managed to do just that, running out 2-1 winners with goals from Vicky Losada Gomez and Danielle van de Donk securing all three points.

Scott responded to her gaffe on Twitter, writing: “An own goal and 3 points… Oi Oi!! I’ll take that,ha!! Proud of my team today. We keep fighting and on to the next.”

Arsenal currently sit third in Women’s Super League One, two points behind Chelsea in second place and three table-toppers Manchester City.

This seemed to have been missed. The fact that Arsenal Ladies thrashed the scum 10-0 in the WFA Cup is worth a look.

Saw the score line but hadn't watched highlights. Will plan to later.

Just got back from the first North London Derby at the new t*ttenham public toilets. 2-0 to the Arsenal! 3 Sp*rs players got the ball kicked into their faces and they had the medics doing the broken neck checks on them!

I got asked by a old woman in front if this was the first time I had been to a women's match as I was swearing my head off. I simply replied "yes I have, I went to this game earlier in the season"
